I saw this about a month ago. I haven't heard anyone say they wouldn't take it. Everyone loves it. I want one.

*coughRICERcough*
It may be a Volvo, but it's riced to hell. |

Re: Hot Volvo

Looks an awful lot like a ripoff of a BMW 5 series =/ |
looks like an S60 T6
I was looking at those not too long ago, but they're lke 40k |
Best looking volvo ive ever seen thats for sure
|
That's one slick looking ride.
Very far from a ricer(http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/you_m..._ricer_if.html ). But looks like they did get some ideas from BMW. If I could afford it I'd take that over a beemer anyday... |
I am to assume this is a tuner project, not a production hopeful. Volvo would never build anything that extreme. Even the T6R is much tamer than most factory tuned sedans. Just the lowering alone would be frowned upon by the swedes as unsafe. Sure Ford has there hand in the ultimate decisions that Volvo makes but not at the expence of safety, after all safety is their middle name. (sort of):) :)

M5??!! That thing couldnt even run with an M3! Looks like you need a new sense of smell. "The new S60 R, the latest in the Swedish company's line of "R" designated performance cars, comes standard with a five cylinder, high-boost turbocharged engine. For those so inclined to know, the engine is a 2.5L variable valve controlled engine that develops 300 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque all the way from 1950 to 5250 rpm. It also comes standard with a very smooth shifting 6-speed close ratio short throw manual transmission, electronically controlled all-wheel-drive, and sophisticated computer-actuated suspension that adjusts to driving conditions 500 times per second. In other words, this isn't your father's Volvo. In fact, it's a huge leap from Volvo of just a few years ago." |

that's not "riced" my friend, that is called clean. there are no ugly wings hanging eveywhere and plastic pieces whose only purpose is to fall off. that is one clean sweet car, probably even better than the SVT. it would have no problem running with the M5, the M3 with 333hp would be lost. |

Uh.......first of all that Evolution Volvo will destroy an M5 on a sprint and definitely outhandle the M5 as well. You gotta be kiddin' me it you think the Volvo is rice.  |

yeah those are for the S60 R i'm trying to find the mods and specs right now. i'll get back
|
The name of the concept is the PCC 2 it has a 2.4L turbocharged engine making 300 HP and 400 Nm of torque.
for more info go to www.conceptlabvolvo.com/vcc/pcc |
Here are the specs for the evolve volvo.....
Under the hood, the Volvo's engine develops an estimated 500 hp with EVOLVE's turbo and intercooler upgrade, ram-air intake and engine dress-up kit. An EVOLVE adjustable coil-over suspension anchors the car's semi-active suspension system with three dynamic chassis modes. EVOLVE's Big Brake Kit is comprised of braided steel brake lines and 15-inch 2-piece rotors with twin six-piston calipers front and rear. EVOLVE's Graphite 19-inch 3-piece wheels and Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 235/35-19 tires, darkened taillights, Bi-Xenon headlamps complete the package. |
sorry about that i guess i found the wrong car. your specs sound a lot better for the look of the car. thanks.
|
To each his own.
In my opinion, the red one on the left looks no different than any other riced civic you'd see on the road minus the big ass wing. :) http://www.evolvecars.com/albums/alb...0586.sized.jpg |
and the fact that it is alot cleaner. everything flows properly and it looks more German than rice.
|
Rice? I don't think so.
Clean lines, no wing...looks like a nice ride. |
thats a sweet car.. love the color too
|
I dunno
The front billet type grills are kinda ricey. But whatever i think they look good. I don't give a rats ass about looking 'ricey.' It carries with it a negative connotation, but to me it's cool as long as the driver thinks it looks good. |

Good point, at least it's good to see another car on the road with 300+ hp.
|
Personally, I wouldn't trade this for an M3 any day. Nonetheless, it's hella cool and probably priced a lot less.
|
Looks like a bmw rip off to me.
Doubt it's better than an M5. i'd take m5 over this any day. Although, I wouldn't mind having this car. looks pretty nice. |
Im sure its a helluva car to drive, but Im yawning over the looks. its not ugly, but it is boring as hell to look at (to me anyway).
definitely belongs in the sleeper category. |
oh and as for "rice" it does have some minor ricey touches:
the wheels (especially on the blue one) could only be more rice if they were chrome-polished (ok, maybe if they had gold inlays) the billeting on the front AND rear has rice overtones the nearly pointless ground effects - the car isnt low enough to the ground for them to make much difference - hence, ricey in my book the also nearly pointless spoiler-lip on the trunk. it aint big enough to provide any noticeable extra rear grip, increases aerodynamic drag, and IMO detracts from the generally otherwise clean lines - again, ricey imo. and whats with the dual exhaust tips? im sure its just a single exhaust. I guess duals look "cooler" to some. those people are usually ricers. I could do without that cladding line down the sides too. I do like that engine & bay though. very sharp. |
oh, I almost forgot
I DETEST painted brake calipers. |
"rice" in my opinion, is separated from "import" by rice being anything giving the perception of the car being faster than it is. i don't think either of these vehicles look faster than they are. as said before, it may look like any civic on the road (which i disagree with) but every civic on the road is slow as crap... this isn't.
|
Throught the years there have been a couple vovlos capapble of inspiring lust... P1800, and T5r wagon to name a few...
|
i like it... dont know if i would pay the extreme price tag....
|
If this (these) Volvo's are pushing 500 HP I doubt the M5's could hang for long. The M5 people could make a case with the fact that the Beemer is production and these are not, but probably not with the straight numbers. As for the looks, everything's a matter of taste. I personally find these to be fairly tastefully understated and given that the performance more than equals the relatively minor mods think that they do not fall into the "ricer" category.
|
yep I'd take one .. it is hot
|
The BMW M5...is a 400hp/ft-lb, v8 powerplant, with a six speed racing tranny, and a kidney belt requiring suspesion setup. It will pobably blow the doors off of any volvo production or race prep vehicle ever to have emerged from gottenburg.
These vehicles, the PCC stuff, both the s60r, the v70r, and this unavailable, s40 souped up factory chopper, are just volvo doing doing what it does best, and taking it up a notch. Turbo charged, 4 bangers (the old red brick engines) morhped and volvo is NOW mostly transversly mounted, inline fives or sixes, light pressure turbos, sometimes dual LPT. 4000lbs cars, safe as a shark cage, hanging with the big boys, and still getting 25mpg. Those swedes have really done phenomenal things with that internal combustion system. Let's not compare M5's to Volvo concept/limited production cars. I want them both :) Equally desirable. The wagon is awesome. 42k...AWD, 6speed, 300hps...I was actually gonna go hunt around the local dealerships see what the scoop is on getting one? Finally, I think that sled in the photos looks rather riced out to me. Painted calipers, chromed rotors, fleck metalic paint, cast aluminum engine components, and turbo plumbing, neon vacuum hose. That's rice where I come from :) -bear |
it's ok... definitely needs more stickers. though i don't think that those static things in the window would look as hot with german words as they do with japanese characters.
