Installing a plow?

Anyone with experience installing a snow plow? I just bought a used Western Unimount 7 1/2 ft plow for my 1994 Dodge Ram 1500.

Does the fram just bolt up to the truck frame or do you need to drill holes and/or weld it?

How does the controller in the cab pass through the firewall (or does it take another route)?

What connections need to be made for the wiring harness?

Any help much appreciated.

When I worked at a Dodge Dealer They had to Drill Holes, but it depends on the brackets you got...Might want to check with the dealership or the plow company before you fuck your truck up.

I'm sure I'll know more after I actually match the frames up. If it's just a bolt on I'll do it myself. If it's drilling and the harness/controller set up is complicated, I'll pay someone to do it. The only drawback to paying (besides the money) is that plow shops are busy as hell right now and appointments are hard to come by.

Thanks for the answer though.

Just about any place that installs bumpers would be able to help you too. My local muffler place does hitches and bumpers.

I would NOT recommend a bumper shop! go to a plow shop, It will cost more but it won't get botched.
