It's been asked before, but --- best used car under $12,500?

Any thoughts on it? My car has kicked the proverbial bucket, and I'm on the lookout. Only problem is, I'm buying a house in 4 months and having a wedding at the same time, so I'm not large on cash.

I'm looking for something with 4 doors and decent gas mileage since I live outside of DC and traffic sucks donkey here (and the dead car is a Saturn, so I'm used to a gas mileage average of 32+. Not much is that high, but higher than 23,24 is acceptable).

Reliability is key, since I put probably 18-20,000 miles on a car per year, so it either has to be low on miles at the beginning or be one of those cars that can keep kicking after 150.

Thoughts are most generously welcomed. And as you see from the dead car, style isn't even that important.

you should look at a 98-00 accord v-6. also, drive a 00-01 jetta v6. and for domestic, regal gs,ls...cadillac catera. you should be able to find decent ones in that price range.

I go with an accord they last forever. or if you like trucks a toyota truck goes the distance and gets pretty good gas milage. The best overall bet IMO is the Honda though.

don't forget the 4-door integra if you want something a little sportier than an accord.

You've all actually echoed the thoughts of most of my friends and the fiance. :-)

Thanks for letting us know we're probably heading in the right directions. I'll let you know what I decide...

Too many Accords in the DC suburbs already. Go against the grain and buy a 1979 Camaro with some fuzzy dice. Add a "Don't mess with Texas" bumber sticker and you're all set.
