well since you asked, i'll tell you exactly what happened. my friend that i live with and i were gonna take a trip up to see my boyfriend JS. she is still in high school, so i was going to drive her truck up to where she was (a town 30 miles from here) and we'd park it and then head out in her little car. otherwise, she'da had to travel 30 miles to get me, another 30 miles back to where seh was, and then be delayed already on our trip. so i get all packed up, get in the truck, take off. stop at the store, get a drink etc. btw it was a red mountain dew which i never opened and my mom found it intact at the wreck site. i found that hilarious.
so i'm about 10 miles out of town and there's an animal in the road, i swerve to the right to miss it, the front passenger tire catches on the rough edge of the road, and i try to pull myself back onto the road, which causes me to spin. then when i'm spinning, i panic and start trying to force the wheel the other way (BIIIIIG mistake). so i start flipping. i flip and flip and finally come to a stop. i push my way outta the truck and start picking up all my stuff off the highway so someone else doesn't wreck on it. i didnt' feel any pain except i was really shook up and worried that my friend would be upset over her truck being totalled. i couldn't stop balling. but my friend wasn't mad, she was just relieved that i was ok. i was rushed to the emergency room (though i protested) and turns out i had a horrid seat belt burn (the seat belt worked and ultimately saved my life, but the airbag never deployed.), a nasty bruise on my leg which now two weeks later has turned into several, bruises on all of my abdomen and really bad on my hips. plus i hit my head when i was upside down so i had a sore head. they took like 10 xrays of me, which sucked and then the doctor had me take off my shirt to examine everything (since the seatbelt burn was on my left shoulder up by my breasts. well that's about it, and i'm ok. the pics look pretty bad because literally the truck was totalled and the police said they hadn't seen a wreck that bad in a LOOOOONNNNNG time where anyone came out alive. so i'm lucky. |
Eek, glad you're ok arie!
|
1 life down...8 to go...
your lucky you started out with 9 lives:p looks really bad babe... im soo glad your ok |
:D Glad you got out of that one reasonably well! :D
a plus: if you wreck a truck, you'd better do it right! And Arie: you did it right! Hope all bruises heal soon! |
Holy shit. That is, indeed, totalled.
I'm glad you came out okay. :) |

Glad to hear you are generally fine. Just another good reminder that seatbelts save lives. |
holycrapinahat Arie. You did a good job on that truck. Glad your alright.
|
Wow. It's good to know you came out of that thing relatively safe and in pretty good condition.
|
I don't know you very well, but I'm also glad you are ok. These pictures are testimony to some pretty good luck on your part, besides the truck, that is.
|
Airbags wouldn't deploy in such an event. They are designed to open only under frontal impact. Those trucks are good and strong, and the reason that you made out with such comparatively little injury.
Rollovers are very common with 4x4's when driven by either new owners or people that don't drive the vehicle. They sit high and have higher CoG. Lack of familiarity with handling characteristics makes for a greater chance of roll. You are correct in considering yourself lucky. |
Glad to hear you're ok! Looks pretty bad, but at least it kept you ok!
Oh yeah, Rangers are notorious for having bad airbags. I was rear ended by one in the Saturn (1993 SL2) back when I was at home, and the whole front end molded around the rear bumper of my car, without the airbag going off, resulting in driver who was not wearing a seatbelt to crack the windshield with his head. :0 Consider yourself VERY lucky. |
damn that was nasty ... glad you are alive to talk about it
|
truck + arie + animal = dead animal live arie
*nod* You're in a truck, use it! |
Whew...coulda a been alot worse....thank god your ok. Use my theory with animals...if it's a lot of trouble to move for it or it's the size of a deer or bigger hit it
|
What kind of animal was it? I have to agree with merkerguitars; never swerve, unless it is big enough to cause damage. Most of the time, the animal will try to fake out the car as well, and you hit it anyway. I like animals, but I'm not going to risk my life.
Again, as everyone else, glad to hear you survived mostly intact. |
Man they rammed you hard.
|
Yikes, Quite a ride I bet.
|
Glad to hear you made it but it's too bad you had to use one of your 9 lives!!! ;)
