Vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico?
My wife just sprung the idea of a week's vacation in Puerto Vallarta in March. Anyone know anything about this area?
My wife claims that her sister in law has some timeshare deal at the Costa Sur resort that we could use as part of some time share promotion, which I think means I get to waste a few hours listening to a timeshare hard-sell. If I make this trip I'd be interested in things like beach, snorkeling and sightseeing. |
the town itself didn't do much for me. overrun, touristy, crowded beaches.
BUT there are some beaches to the south of town accessible only by boat that are very nice for snorkelling. an all day trip w/ lunch and drinks was less than $30. that was very nice. one of the beaches names is Yalapa. any sort of search for that should turn up the others. have fun. |
Hubby and I went to Puerto Vallarta for our anniversary last year and I absolutely loved it. We only had a few days, but we took a tour of the city and a tequila distillery, swam with dolphins, and went to this island that is only accessible by sea for an evening. We had planned on snorkeling, but it just didn't happen. It didn't seem extremely touristy to me, but we went during off season.
A good website for more information, including a lot of fun activities, is http://www.puertovallarta.net/index.html Click on the tours and activities button on the left. There are endless things to do there, a wide variety of restaurants, and of course, lots of beaches. We didn't even make it to the beach because we were so busy. Hope this helped!! |
I celebrated my 50th there and loved it. Good restaurants and lots to do, or not do if you want sun time. I parasailed there (yeah, yeah...very touristy) and I will never forget looking down at a pod (?) of dolphin.

Check out Als Chi Chi Club, yeah I know it sounds like a strip club but its not. Its right on the water in this cove south of town, about 20 minutes taxi ride. Big pallapa covered patios right on the water. Food is fantastic. muy romantico at night.

It's cool. Liz and Dick did the whole 'Night of the Iquana' thing there.

Thanks for the responses. This was a spur of the moment thing and I'm not sure if she really wants to go. It does give me something to think about.
