eco friendly/socially responsible fashion

hey,

So after reading the large guys fashion thread this though popped into my head.

I know that ther are some hemp products available and even some nice dress pants and such. Of course it's rather more expensive than structure but similarly priced to banana republic.

Anyways are there particular designers/companies that make a point of being socially responsible with their manufcaturing practices? Likewise are their designers/companies that use organic fabrics?

if it helps i'm usually more interested in a garment being well made and fitting properly than being of the latest/greatest fashion trend.

anybody else find anything interesting along this vein?

Here are a couple of environmentally sound shoes. My friends are behind the Worn Again shoes. My wife and I have pairs in the mail as I write this.

American Apparel is the first company that comes to mind. They make great sweatshop-free t-shirts (and a lot of other stuff).

There are many indie shops on the internet that support handmade products. You just have to look for them.
