 [runners]Anyone dealt with ITB syndrome?

I've been battling with iliotibial band syndrome for months, and can't seem to make much progress. I've seen an orthopedic and a physical threapist and have been able to increase my distance a little bit (to about 1/2 mile), but I still get the pain in my knee and hip. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what helped you get back to running at a full level?

I Was getting this a while back, every time I would jog hard, My left knee would just start killing me when I stepped down on that side. I just said the hell with it and started swimming instead, It only hurts for me when I jog a lot every day for a week or 2, by the end of it I cant do it anymore.

I've taken as much as a month off from running/jogging and when I resume it still kills me within 1/2 mile. I'm working on stretching more and improving my balance, because apparently these things help. |

i wouldn't really recommend it for everybody, but i was having this issue, but i kept running as much as I could and actually seemed to get better as I got into better shape. originally I thought I was having problems from running the same direction on a track, but that was probably coincidence, it never bothered me when i was doing track in HS.

I dont know what ITB is exactly, but i myself have had Patella Tendonitis (Jumper's Knee. I play high level competitive soccer and have had to be pretty delicate with what i do. I try to get in a 5km run once a week with it aswell. I recently bought a tailored strap just for this condition. I cant wait till it is 100percent. physio says it will take months.
