Why does it hurt so much?
--I guess this would go here, didn't find a relationship forum--
Back to the subject.... why does it hurt so much to end a relationship? My girlfriend and I just broke up, almost 6 month relationship (I know, not much), and I was even the one that initiated the break-up, but I still feel like shit, my heart itself hurts, I feel like a want to cry... I didn't even cry when my dad went back to Kuwait after his 2 week break. Why oh why, does this hurt so much. :( |

I find that it's the sense of loss and grief that comes from losing a future. You met this person, you had certain expectations or hopes about how your life would be, and for whatever reason that didn't happen. It's the pain that comes from realizing that reality doesn't match the picture in your head, and you can't make it match no matter how hard you try.

Love is addictive. Welcome to withdrawl.

Breaking up is never easy. It doesn't matter if you broke up with her or vice versa. Either way, an important part of your life is now gone. Take your time to grieve, but realize that that you were able to live before you met her and you'll go on without her. You had your reasons to end it, and without know anything about the situation, I'd still wager that you're better off just moving on with your life.

welcome to love, its never the easy thing to do but everyone has their reasons for doing it.

zxello - I've got to say that is the CUTEST avatar picture!! That kitten looks absolutely pathetic, I love it!
Ok, back to topic...Give it time. It won't hurt forever. Do other things to keep you busy and it will heal a lot faster...works for me. :) |
It might help to think of what is actually making you feel sad. Is it that you are missing her, or is it that there is a void in your life? Although silence can be deafening, the key is to notice the difference. It's a big change and will take some time... Find something to fill the void, a new activity, be out with friends, and be out in the world.

I'd rather have that kind of hurt than having the constant pain i get from girls in my area. The last two have both told me that they were too busy and weren't ready for an out of town relationship. Two weeks after each one told me this, they started dating guys from my school. I hate women.
