Advice: My friend is Bulimic

Last night I got a call from one of my good friends saying she was Bulimic. This problem has been going on for 2 months. She knows she needs to quit, but can't or won't. She started because she was unhappy with her looks, and one thing led to another. She asked for my help and for once in my life I don't know what to do. I want to help but don't know how. Is there any advice someone can give me? Should she see a doctor or a shrink? I have never dealt with a problem like that, and don't know how to help her. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Bulimia is a problem that seldom if ever can be taken care of without professional help.

Urge your friend to consult a doctor or psychologist.

And be there for her, of course.

She HAS to get professional help. I had a girlfriend once who was dealing with this problem and it is a horrible illness. I wish your friend well.

Well the first thing you do is learn about it. Google the subject and read about it.

As with most disorders it痴 all in the head. Caused by a chain of misconceptions and false beliefs. Therefore the only way to help your friend is to get her to talk about how she sees things and then have enough authority to correct her views. This is why a professional is the best way to go though this.

I hope your friend gets better soon.
