Benefits of wearing sweats?

Does it make you lose more weight? I know I would sweat a hell of a lot more, but is that a good thing? Why do people wear sweats and what are the positives and negatives? I was curious because I was thinking about wearing sweats when I worked out, but I wanted to make sure it had a purpose.

The only benefit, I think, is comfort, and since fleece is cotton, it absorbs sweat pretty quickly.

If it's super hot out, and you are wearing heavy sweats, you might run the risk of overheating, and that's not good.

sweats are also much more flexable if your not wearing shorts while doing cardio or weight lifting and their warm.

I always think of sweats as relax wear. No idea why they are so think if you want to work out in them. Too damn hot.

Sweats are warmer than other typical workout gear, so yes, its possible that you could sweat more and lose more weight as a result. This isn't good weight loss though... You're effectively dehydrating yourself which will be counter productive for trying to shed fat.

Wearing sweats will make you lose more weight... temporarily. As was said above, the weight you lose is from sweating. People in weight class sports (boxing, wrestling, etc.) often do this before weigh in so that they can slide under the limit.

Then they rehydrate and they're 10 pounds heavier when it's beatdown time. Likewise, as soon as you rehydrate, all that weight you thought you lost would come right back. Further, there are serious health risks associated with dehydration.

I would recommend wearing sweats if you need them for warmth, but that's it.
