i have 4 weeks left in this semester and one more semester left until i complete my MBA. I live in the DC Metro area and i am beginning my career search now. my questions are as follows:

1) for those with higher end educations and experience, what are the major strategies you are using/used to secure your current position.

2) How well did networking work for you? did you feel strange about calling someone out of the blue and asking for a job?

3) Anyone with specific advice for MBA's with government defense contracting experience in the DC area, please feel free to chime in.

What do you have to lose by calling out of the blue and asking if someone's hiring? Nothing. Pimp your resume out to anyone who'll take it.

eh, i'd be interested in hearing second job strategies. I already have one, just lookin for a morning job to clean out my free time with money time.

I just apply like mad. and cross my fingers a bit ;p

shameless self promotion. Everyone, talk to everyone. Networking will get the best opportunities if they are available. Contact everyone you can, old friends, fraternity alumnis, college alumnis, and the like.

Remember this adage...
