What's this cat's name?
Quadrette left town with one pussy and came back with two. I never have that kind of luck.
We have been planning on getting a kitten, and this weekend she found one she really liked at a friend's farm so she brought him home. Now we just need to name him. Check out these pics: http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL130/...5/34246558.jpg http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL130/...5/34247462.jpg (the pink feathers at the bottom of this picture are for his new feather boa - he may be a gay kitty, we don't want to repress him) He's not the most attractive sucka in the world, but he does make for a cute kitten (although aren't most kittens cute?). He's very cuddly and allows us to pet him pretty much anywhere without feeling too territorial. He took to us immediately. He's a little shell-shocked to be in a Queens apartment as opposed to a farm, but he should be fine in the next few days. So far the only names we're really considering are: Punkin ('cause he's orange, and because then we can call him Punk) Monty Shelby (although this is also a girl's name) But he doesn't look like any of those names to me...yet. Any idea what name fits this kitten? (Don't suggest Shithead because I already tried that one...she didn't go for it.) |
Whiskers or Mr. Butler. He looks like a cat my sister used to have
|
We had an orange cat before named Spencer. It seemed to fit very well.
|
Edgar Fucklestein The Third
Mr. Fluffington Harry Astle |
PUNKIN'
|
Ahhhhhhhh
Evil Cat Larva |
I like Punkin too
|
all i can think of atm is "awesome" cuz that's what he looks like in that 2nd pic :D
soooooo CUTE! i wish i could've known the 4 cats i've had when they were kittens. i still have one yellow tabby similar to your guy, but mine is 14.5 yrs old & moved in with us when he was 9 yrs. he used to live across the street (little bit of a story there). |

We called our red kitty Shorty (he had short stubby legs) but then he got hit by a car at only like four months old. My mom is convinced it's because we named him Shorty (like, short life span, i know, i dont get it either), so maybe that fits. Our next red kitty's name is Wuss. And he is anything but....
|
I always wanted to name a cat Hairball. She probably wouldn't go for that either, huh?
|
You could call him Willie B. after William Blake. Or Tiger. ;)
Quote:
We named the first one Tiger and the second Tigger. (Not much thought to it, but it worked out for us.) :) Tiger used to stalk my mother down the hall and pounce on her from behind. Twice he managed to pull her pants down. :p |
Don't know why, but he looks like a 'Meepers'
|
Senor Gato- that's what ima name my next kitty.
|
horse
edit - what about Phoenix?? |
Go hipster and pick something unconventional for your kitten.
Plant. The Can. X-ray Vision (X for short). Nucleus. Push. Rebate. Astroglide. Frankenstein. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. |
|
I'm a big cat fan--have two myself--so don't take this as cat-bashing. I'm sure he's a sweet little guy, but the second photo had a sort of unfocussed Keanu Reeves blank stare quality to it.
So I suggest the name "Mr. Anderson". And always address him in a flat Hugo Weaving Agent Smith voice. "And now the time has come for you to be FED..... Mr. Anderson." |
i'll go with ashton - "toonces...the driving cat"
|
He bears a passing resemblance to Cliche Kitty from Fark. How about "Cliche"?
Also, this is a name that becomes less apt as the cat ages, but the way they dart around when they're little I've always wanted to name a cat "Blip." |
My vote:
Bill...Bill the Cat! aCk! http://www.code7r.org/inquiz/images/nip2.gif if not... call him Happy. |
These suggestions are great! I'm really torn. I kinda DO want to call him Internet Explorer 6.
Lurkette, I purposely posted that picture of him in the grass because when I took it, I was thinking "please, think of the kittens." Mr. Anderson is also a great one. They're all awesome. :) What do you think of Loki? Quadrette thinks I came up with that because Loki was a Norse god, but I'm thinking about Matt Damon's character in Dogma. :) |
Call him OJ - short for orange juice....
|
Bulldozer, the Machine of Destruction.
Chinese Cuisine, maybe CC for short? A friend had a horse, and I made her name him Alpo. I suggest going with something completely incongruous... |
How about Food, Jesus, or Killer?
|
Frank... or Frances or Francine if you decide to go the gay way...
|
awwww, he looks just like my cat when he was younger (my cat is my avatar, he's now 14)
Although my cats name was original tinker, which was a bit wussy, his name seems to change every month or so (i guess thats probably a little weird) atm it is Kidge. Although i really like Monty, casue for one of those months or so, i actually called my cat Monty, or Punkin' is another nicey. Whatever choice you make, it'll suit cause he's you cat. But as i do, you can call him something different from time to time :p |
Stimpy McWhiskers
|
Apparently Evil Cat Larva isn't all that popular so I will suggest a modification to Cynthetiq's suggestion and say Ack would be a great name.

"Loki... is the creature who transgresses all boundaries; even more significant, Loki represents the boundary itself... Loki may most properly be seen as representative of more than either the boundary or the boundary crosser; in the character and role of Loki, the boundary, difference itself, has collapsed. But to say that it 'has collapsed' implies its prior existence, and this does not adequately describe Loki. In Loki that opposition has never been created; what is elsewhere two is one in Loki." -- Karen Swenson |

LOKI (LOW-kee; Male): By now you should have gathered that Loki the trickster god was vitally important among the Norse gods. He was the most colorful and interesting of them all. He seems to pop up in nearly every story. Frankly, his presence is what makes most of the Norse myths intriguing. But that is the job of the trickster-stirring up unforeseen obstacles and stumbling blocks just so no one takes too much for granted. Among Loki's many exploits were: assisting Odin in the creation of the world of human beings, as well the world of the gods called Asgard; shaving off the beautiful golden hair of the goddess Sif for no good reason; and hiding the sacred apples that provided the gods with immortality. Eventually the gods grew tired of his nonsense so they captured him and chained him to a rock above which a giant snake dripped poisonous venom into his eyes. A bit harsh perhaps, but you can't say he didn't ask for it. An easy name to pronounce and remember for your mischievous feline friend. cletic cat names there's other names as welll at the bottom of the link |
Paws, James Paws.

The Naming of Cats
by T.S. Eliot The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter, It isn't just one of your holiday games; You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES. First of all, there's the name that the family use daily, Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James, Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey -- All of them sensible everyday names. There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter, Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames: Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -- But all of them sensuble everyday names But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular, A name that's peculiar, and more dignified, Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular, Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride? Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum, Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -- Names that never belong to more than one cat. But above and beyond there's still one name left over, And that is the name that you never will guess; The name that no human research can discover -- But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess. When you notice a cat in profound meditation, The reason, I tell you, is always the same: His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation Of the thought, of the thought of his name: His ineffable effable Effanineffable Deep and inscrutable singular Name. © 1939 by T.S.Eliot © 1967 by Esme Valerie Eliot Just something to think about. There are tons of great cat names in Eliot's "Old Pssum's Book of Practical Cats". |
I agree, Loki is a good name.
The trickster god :] |
Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sandwich

mmm. Howzabout...
Spiff. Mesophocles Wormwood. or...hmmm Diablo.... Actually, I think you should name him QuasiMojo. Yes. |

In these "name my animal threads" I try to speak from the heart. I gazed upon those images of the kitten and Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sandwich leapt to mind. It would be egocentric of me to think that everyone would enjoy the word “hamburger” as much as me. That being said, Tiny Hamburger would also be an excellent moniker. -GH |
Giant Hamburger's idea gave me one...
How about Baby Burger (The A&W Fast food restaurant's kiddy burger) and then he can become Teen burger and Poppa burger as he gets older... ;) |

I like the way your brain works. You may now consider me a loyal admirer. If you were just a disembodied brain I would take you out in a jar for long boat rides and baseball games. We could sing songs and I would eat a hamburger for both of us since you would be without gastronomic abilities. *looks around* Perhaps I have said too much. -GH |

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Butch.
It is the universal pet name for all pets of any gender. |
i think, that since StormBerlin posted that wonderful poem, you should name it, Eliot
after all, its a bit more appropriate than Horse. |
collaborator.
Or "The Cheat" |
Clawswitz
|
Ninja, Rocky, Ragamuffin
|
My friend just named his kitten TROGDOR!
He wanted to name it Mothra, but his gf liked TROGDOR more! Maybe you can pay tribute and call that lil' guy Mothra. :) |
Zoid
Kid L'0range` Mandingo Bubby Creamsicle Panama Red Marvin Redsides Schmegg Magoo..... oh i got MORE.:) |
I personally love all these names, but they're not goin' over so well with the woman...
We've been calling him Linus lately as Loki didn't fit. I am STILL trying to convince her to let me call him Shizzlew00t but I'm getting nowhere. Eliot is a good possibility. As is TROGDOR, although I'm more inclined to call him Homsar. :D |
Homer J. Simpson "insert surname here"
This name just reeks of class. ;) |
Levon Canabis Satebah - My Mom's buddy's sister's cousins uncle who knew this one guy that worked at a store near his job, knew a guy who's sister's friends' daughter named her little Kitty that name right there!
When she told me that I fell in love and thought it was thee most awsomist...don't ask why..it just caught my attention.. I just called my Mom just to make sure I got it right...so there you go ;) |
I hate it when people make up fucking cutesy wootsy little names for their pets. Name it Steve, damnit.
|
I think you should name him for what he really is...Little Shit Machine.
...or Ahdiesas (Esas for short). For All he does is eat, sleep and shit. I love kittens. :) Ours are named Venus and Lain. |
So...what'd you name it? Or are you still looking?

Today I'm going to try calling him Elvis. 'Cause you know, he's the king of the apartment. Plus, it's really fun to think about him wearing the white jumpsuit with rhinestones. |
