armpits

this is a little embarassing, but... my armpits sweat all the time... even when i am sitting watching tv or something, or driving in a car with the AC on. ive tried just about every form of deodorant (except for the spray stuff in a can) and nothing really stops the sweating... its embarrasing man.
anyone know anything that could be of help? thanks.

actually, I saw something on TV where it seems there is a new drug out for people that have excessive sweating problems. You might want to ask you're doctor about it. I wish I could remember what it was called........

Clemson huh? You go to school there? My whole immediate family are alums, they think I am a traitor because I chose N.C. State over Clemson:rolleyes:

you traitor, lol

I used Mitchums deodorant/anti persperant last summer, and it worked like a charm. I haven't been able to find it at the supermarket since though.

If you have a serious problem, there is a surgical procedure that severs the nerves that control your sweat glands in your armpits.

Hash_Browns 08-28-2003 11:12 AM

I used to do that when I was in 4th grade...I sweat all the time...my mom used to say I would sweat like a man..:( how gross was that to a girl in 4th grade...want to know what she did to fix the problem???

She cut off all of my hair (it was down to my ass at the time and thick!!) she got it cut to my shoulders...then she gave me the grandma cut when I seemed to keep sweating....2 inches on top and faded...I am just now getting the balls to let the stupid sideburns grow out (sad I know!)!! now that my hair is thinning and takes longer to grow I am trying to get back to that place I was before!! And no sweating isn't a problem...and my hair didn't fix it either...puberty did...

RAMONES!!! 08-28-2003 11:36 AM

same thing used to happen to me, i used a degree (the white kind) and it just made me sweat all the time, i started to use Old Spice High Endurance, (its blue) and i dont sweat unless its really hot and i'm outside working...trust me i know how you feel

slant eyes 08-28-2003 10:13 PM

i sweat profusely. i have bunches of sweaters, really nice ones, and i can't wear them cuz i would have a heat stroke and pass out.

i remember one time, it had just got done raining, i went out and started roller blading with shorts and no top. my roommate came home and told my brother, 'is your brother ok? it's like 30 degrees out, and he's half naked'

so i feel you man. i heard of that operation, but they would have to cut all the nerves to help me with my situation.

Aaron0000 08-29-2003 04:12 AM

Go to your Dr. they can give you a strong anti-persperint stick.

Ripsaw 08-29-2003 08:59 AM

Did you try to shave yet? It helps.

Flesh 08-29-2003 03:29 PM

If your problem is very severe and no market deoderant helps, like Aaron said visit your doc, I'm sure there is something he/she can do. I am also a sweater, but the idea of cutting the nerves kinda turns me off :|

I have the same problem. I found this stuff at the drugstore called "Certain Dri." You put it on before you go to bed and leave it on all night. I then use Mitchim antiperspirant in the mornings. I only have to use it every other night, and--though it does kind of itch sometimes--it works like a charm.

Are you complaining about the sweat it self or the smell? The smell is caused by bacteria on ur armpit hairs so getting rid of the hair would get rid of the smell.

jbrooks544 09-05-2003 09:34 AM

deodorant vs. anti-perspirant Learn it - live it. Good luck.

It is probably hormonal and you will outgrow it. If strong anti-perspirants don't work then see a doctor. Never be afraid to go to the doctor for any reason. It would be like not taking your car to the mechanic if your brakes were broken...

While what you have is probably not serious, it could possibly (not likely) be a symptom of a medical condition or desease. probably not - Not meant to scare you - no reason to be...

rock alum... works in asia and europe.. totally natural.

Jim Kata 09-05-2003 11:58 AM

Damn, I read this thread earlier and laughed about it...but now I realized I'm sweating like a couple of rats humping in a sock under a lamp. I use anti perspirant and it usually works...just once in a while it doesn't do the trick. Now I have to speed home, take a quick shower, and speed back to my other job in less than 40 minutes!! Damn yous armpits!!! Damn yous armpits to hell!!!

What's the difference...Deodorant=smell nice and anti-perspirant=less sweat???

How much water do you drink? I used to have that problem, started drinking more water, problem fixed.

joesmith 09-06-2003 07:29 PM

Well - sweating is ok as long as its not stinking - If i sweat a little, i'll sweat a lot - until i found mitchum deodorant (in cnada- i dunno if its avlaible elsewhere) - the stuff is odorless and i can sweat all day with it and not smell at all.

avoid anti-persperant if you care about your health - the stuff is dangerous...

A change of clothing may help too - Something light, that can breathe may help - you won't accumulate seat if it can evaporate as quickly as its being created.

One other thing - Since i started saunaing a lot, i sweat a lot less. I sweat like swine in the sauna - but out of it not nearly as much as i used to - I don't know if this will work for you or not.

kalashnikov 09-08-2003 10:39 PM

I sweat bucket loads, even if it is cold, or I am not actually doing strenuos work...the problem has lessened, as all them crazy hormones are starting to balance themselves out (I am 19). Deodorant doesn't really stop the sweating, but at least it masks the smell (for a bit).
One thing that may be less obvious is your clothing choice. Some shirt fabrics don't breath well, and I will sweat right through them. My favorite (at least in the summer) are button down madras shirts: they are extremely light and breezy, and they have enough color and pattern that even if you sweat a lot, it won't be noticeable.

Actually what really pisses me off is getting yellow pit stains (i try to avoid white t-shirts. Any cures/fixes for that?

Metallica_Band 09-08-2003 11:20 PM

I have a couple of shirts that for some reason causes me to sweat more than usual...it's weird...I try to avoid them...SOMETIMES I'll get lucky and it won't make me sweat...I only wear them if I am too lazy to do the laundry and they're the only things I got left...LOL
