Any ideas on moving to Mexico?
I'm looking into moving to Mexico - One of the beach cities... I'm wondering if anyone ever dreams of living this type of life and if anyone has any links on the subject?

I live just 5 miles from Mexico---and that is close enough...
it has to be the most corrupt govenment I have ever seen... Anyone who has any kind of power, has his hand in your pocket. and the worst are the police.. Yea, there are some great spots on the shore line, but they do take money..... it is a whole different way of life---do a lot of checking before you leap---and if you are not a citizen you can not own land... Of coarse if it was great there would not be thousands leaving there every year... |
Great place to visit, but I wouldn't live there. As a gringo, you won't be popular unless you're buying something. Otherwise, you're just another American. Keep in mind it's a third-world country and won't be able to help you out in retirement.
And stay the fuck away from the Federalis. If you feel like moving out of the States, Canada and most of Europe has a much higher and safer standard of living. |
i'll be moving to ecuador in 3 years.
the important is to have people u can trust, in any country people will happily depart a foreigner from his money in scams & tourist-traps. i wouldn't burn all my bridges if i were u, you won't know if u can adapt until you've tried it. but i do advise you to try it. <cliche> beter to regret something you've done, than to regret you've never done it </cliche> |

That being said, remember it's Mexico - water "quality" varies, so take your common sense with you to the tap. Oh - and <b>Viejo</b> - I believe they've changed the law - foreigners can buy land now - but it requires trust - the Government "holds" the land for you permanently (or until they change their minds). |
