My friend is heartbroken...

Earlier today a very good friend of mine was lamenting about his broken heart. "The amount of Love / Break-up songs on the radio is over the top. Seriously, WTF?!"

I figured there's got to be some better break up songs than those sappy ones on the radio.

what are some others?

Don't Think Twice, It's All Right

It ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don’t matter, anyhow
An’ it ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don’t know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I’ll be gone
You’re the reason I’m trav’lin’ on
Don’t think twice, it’s all right

It ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An’ it ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe
I’m on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was somethin’ you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin’ anyway
So don’t think twice, it’s all right

It ain’t no use in callin’ out my name, gal
Like you never did before
It ain’t no use in callin’ out my name, gal
I can’t hear you anymore
I’m a-thinkin’ and a-wond’rin’ all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I’m told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don’t think twice, it’s all right

I’m walkin’ down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I’m bound, I can’t tell
But goodbye’s too good a word, gal
So I’ll just say fare thee well
I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don’t mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don’t think twice, it’s all right

Richard Jeni - Love songs (greek subs - ????????? ?????????) on Vimeo

Whoa, interesting choice. Jeni (one of my favorite comedians) committed suicide in 2007.

Which kind of breakup song do you want...

She dumped me, I'm sad?
She dumped me, it's probably for the best?
I dumped her, but I'm torn up about it?
I'm glad I dumped her?

Here's the first one that comes to mind; it's "she broke up with me, but wants to get back together now, and I don't":
You called me up last night in tears and said you missed me after all these years
Well I’ve been waiting here so long, I’ve gotten over it since you've been gone
You called me late last night again and said you're finished with your new boyfriend
Asked if you could come back home- so sorry that you left me all alone

You say you love me, love me again but if you love me- where have you been?
You say you need me more than anyone else well go to hell, where have you been?
You showed up at my door today and said my friend why do you push me away
Your life with him was just so dull but what we had was something wonderful

You say you love me, you love me again but if you love me- where have you been?
You say you need me more than anyone else well go to hell- where have you been?
No way! You wish! I don't need this! What makes you think I’d ever want you again?
Yeah right! As if! I don't need this What makes you think I'd ever want you again?

The only breakup song I've ever had was this one, and I don't recommend it...it led to driving 100mph in a random direction on the freeway at night with it on repeat while tearing up.

This isn't really a break-up song, but it definitely has helped some of my friends (and myself) during heartbroken phases.

Keri Noble was a star player in my last major breakup:

Also, Rilo Kiley:

...I never felt so wicked as when I willed our love to die
And I was your silver lining, as the story goes
I was your silver lining, but now I'm gold...
