^ Never used one myself but I have a friend who has. It works! Pretty well too. If I were doing tomatoes again this year, I'd prefer it over the monstrous tree-like messes I had before.

^ I don't use these either but I have another friend who fosters dogs and she has one. They're pretty sturdy. And the cover comes off for washing and it's easy to put back on. If I had a small or elderly dog, I'd pick one up.

As someone who watches commercials on TV, I LOVE LOVE LOVE as seen on TV products and some paid programming. Right now my fav's are tied to the kinoki foot pad and the other thing that cleanses your bile or some stupid shit like that!

Do those space bags work well? Thats actually a pretty good idea for the massive amount of winter gear us Canadians need.

I use "space bags" mainly for the humidity down here. I've had hit and miss luck on the seals.

I have a Snuggie. My dad bought it for me for Christmas in 2008. My mother got one for my boyfriend (an OSU Snuggie) for Christmas last year, and I use it more than he does when we watch movies. :)

I've used space bags before - used about 20 of them for seasonal packing. about 12 of the bags were actually usable with good seals.

There are a few different brands of the 'space bag' dealie. Zip Lock has one now I think. But I've never messed with them. I have issues with storage though. I like everything to be easily accessible to me at all times instead of stored away for a season or what not. But for say, a family or someone who has a ton of shit, I think they're a great idea.

There have been quite a few Time Life music collections I couldn't pass up (by downloading via torrents.) Monster Ballads, Feel Like Making Love - 40 Classic Rock Ballads, The Best Rock Ballads Ever (4 cd set) etc. They're a great way to add to your library. Hit the Time Life website and scan through the contents of albums. You'll be reminded of artists you forgot about and end up spending a day downloading music.

My wife got a Deluxe Snuggie for Christmas. It was the worst, scratchiest, most uncomfortable fabric ever invented.

However, the fabric glove oven mitt works quite well.

Are you talking about the Ove Glove? I wondered about that. I like the idea of it being a glove instead of a mitt. Easier to grab on to things.

I remember when i was very little I had this totally epic dream set to an 80's rock ballad that was playing on my radio while I was sleeping. I don't know why I remember such a thing from my early days, but it seems like it was very significant to me at the time...

Anyhow, back to the late-night infomercial products.

I've used something like the "Ove Glove" in the kitchen before and I liked it. It was a professional kitchen version of it, but it was great for taking cake after cake out of the oven at high speeds. I will eventually get a set for myself when I have the money.

I thought I created a thread a while ago on 80's rock ballads but maybe I didn't. I think we need one, regardless.

I've also downloaded collections of New Age relaxation music. It's nice to have in the background while cooking if nothing else is on TV. Also nice for hangovers.

The glove we have looks like the material of the Ove Glove, it but doesn't have the nonslip grip, which looks like a nice addition.
As a massage therapist, I've spent a lot of time listening through this stuff. I highly recommend the artist Liquid Mind (who was the keyboardist for Missing Persons, just to bring it back to the '80s). His music has no center; you can't find a hook and sing along.

I currently have a good bit of 2002, Amethystium, a few collections with 'Chill Out' in the title which makes it self explanatory and such lol. A butt load of Enigma, Relaxation / Meditation stuffs, etc. Would love to compare notes with you. I bet you have a great collection and are familiar with the music better than I am. I really just trial and error it, since it's not like you can just turn on the radio, hear a good song and dl it. So I'm wide open for any other suggestions you have :).

For the record, I find "as seen on TV - Only $9.99 and we'll send you DOUBLE the offer" to be amusing. I ONLY own the space bags. And they work very well.

Ever since I got burned from buying "The Wonderful, Lifetime Sharp, Fabulous and Great Ginzu Knives in the late 70s....I NEVER buy stuff seen on TV!!!

And It's a good thing cuz I watch way too much tube as it is. Those knives were so bad that felt like they were made outta tin and never cut a damn thing well. Now German handmade knives only thank you very much! Yep, they cost alot more but hold an edge beautifully and are much safer, too.

Space bags are good for storage but the vacuum seal is usually terrible on them, for anything smaller than towells I usually go for a 2 gallon hefty bag with the slide-zipper and expect that to lose a seal too. If all you want is protection from the ambient crud though they're pretty bloody good for dust, dirt, bugs, and even minor water intrusion.

Also had a Magic Bullet for a while and it worked great at first... except they have serious longevity issues. The thing uses a replaceable silicone ring on one part that has a powerful desire to become one with your meal and the whole thing's noisy as all hell with a tendency to overheat.

Good for single serving drinks, very useful for crushing ice while mixing booze into whatever among a few friends. Heats up quickly, so don't use it for more than 4 or 5 single drinks at once.

I have a Snuggie. I don't care what anyone says, it's a great idea. I used it all winter.

hercules hooks - we use them for everything (but we buy the ones home depot sells now)

space bags - we dont use them for storage but they are awesome for when dave has to pack a suitcase to go overseas for a month at a time, we use the ones you just push the air out of

green bags - those things you keep fresh veggies in...AWESOME

next thing Im gonna buy is the grater plate thing

The only thing I have ever got from the TV commercials were the tv/laptop trays that fold up and can be stored under your couch.

I did receive a free gadget that turn any citrus fruit into a juice maker. Like a straw that you jam in and the juices flow out. it doesn't have a name.

I really don't like these sorts of gadgets and unitaskers. From what I can see, they will either clutter my house with crap or end up adding more volume to the landfill.

Green Bags, invented by some other chick, extend the life of your produce,
just as they claim to do. Totally expensive, but if you wash and reuse, they are worth it.

I found my green bags at a flea market for a dollar a box (which as 12 in it if I remember right) lol I wont have to buy any for a LONG time

We had two; each lasted about a month.
Seemed like a good idea but the plastic on the bottom of the cup that engaged the motor would just get gnawed off in no time, leaving the motor spinning underneath but not engaging the blades to turn.

The ones you push air out of are good, the vacuum ones seemed great at first, but once all the tablecloths and out-of-season clothes were packed and sat on the closet shelf for a few months, they started leaking air in slowly, allowing everything to return to its uncompressed size and forming an impossible-to-remove block of bags wedged between the shelf and the ceiling. I had to throw the upright vacuum over one shoulder and use the hose with the other to suck the air out of one of the bags to get the stack to budge.

How on earth did you get that stuff to do anything? I tried it a few times and it basically just seemed to make a generic white paste. The extra grit helped a bit when scrubbing some things but it never seemed to actually DO anything, much like using baking soda on something that a base won't dissolve.

I have the old style, no grips and the new style with grips ove gloves... I really like them.

I use the old one for cooking over charcoal, cast iron dutch oven or skillets on coals.

That's because you were using it wrong. It has to have a significant amount of water added to it to work--it has to be able to dissolve, as the chemical in OxiClean (sodium percarbonate) turns into hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate when dissolved in water.

OxiClean is a great laundry booster, but where it really shines compared to other boosters is in pretreating stains. It's also good for getting stains out of sinks/tubs/whatever--just fill up the tub or sink, add the OxiClean, and let it sit. However, the same thing can also be accomplished with Super Washing Soda (sodium carbonate), and when it comes to laundry boosters, I prefer 20 Mule Team Borax, mostly because it's cheaper.

Is the active part Sodium Carbonate or Hydrogen peroxide because I can probably get a large quantity of either for less than oxi-clean...

You can get hydrogen peroxide cheaper by itself, but I wouldn't wash colored clothing with it. It may lighten fabrics. It will work with whites just like chlorine bleach, though. Sodium carbonate (look for Arm and Hammer's Super Washing Soda) makes a great laundry booster, as does the 20 Mule Team Borax I mentioned. I wouldn't try to mix them together as you won't get the same ratio at home that you get from the sodium percarbonate in the OxiClean.

However, hydrogen peroxide is my cleaner of choice when it comes to the bathroom--it kills mildew better than the harsh mildew removers by Lysol, and it's waaaay cheaper. Just put it in a dark spray bottle, or cover a clear spray bottle with duct tape or something, as it will lose effectiveness when stored in a clear bottle. I have a clear bottle for mine but only put in what I'm going to use in it.
