It's going to take a long time (if ever) for you to understand why the ring is not the issue here.

It takes only a short time and a simple mistake for something tragic to happen when someone confused like you are has ready access to a gun.

I say this as a properly concerned, fellow gun owner: You need to immediately make the guns unavailable to yourself. Have a friend lock them up in a safe somewhere. Ask the county sheriff to lock them up if you have to. But don't leave them where you have access to one in a fit of passion or rage. Everyone reading this thread foresees a tragic event when you present this ring and get a very horrified reaction from the girl, or you have some kind of confrontation with her family prior to doing so. The pain you are going to feel when she rejects you to your face is going to be so searingly intense, you can't properly predict what you're going to do. Best not to have a gun easily available then and there.

What makes people creepy is that they WANT something, it's OBVIOUS that they want it, and they DENY that they want it. That piece of dissonance is what gets labeled "creepy". People with such little self-awareness are frightening because they are unpredictable yet highly motivated--people get afraid of what exactly you'd DO to get what you want.

This is the vibe you are exhibiting, and you are exhibiting it IN ABUNDANCE.

It has nothing to do with whether you still have the ring or not. The ring is a symptom. Getting rid of the ring is ANOTHER symptom. You gotta get strait with yourself about what you want and what you'd do to get it.

Kpax: Why haven't you said a word in response to almost every single person's urging you to get professional counseling? I am just wondering if you are ignoring that part of what everyone is saying, or you don't agree, or you have tried that, or what? I think it is the most crucial part of people's advice to you here, but you haven't commented on it whatsoever. Why?

None of us are joking about this. We are not trying to make you laugh, or feel like you are "okay." You are not. Please, make an appointment with a counselor at your school, if you are at university. Open the phone book and find one. And please, tell the counselor everything you have told us here. That is the only way to find yourself in a better situation than you are now.

man, it's been free-for-all this month on resurrecting what was thought and known to be buried.

the other "hip" trend I notice this month is inducting new HoF material, and if there was ever a thread and/or a singular member that caused as much of a stir as this one, I'd be seriously distraught at the thought of the humanity eclipsed. So, I nominate this one then for the cause of informing all new and old,
