Moving Companies?
So i'm moving across the country (san francisco to new york -- see related thread if you have any advice for me http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...15#post1394115) and i need to find a reasonably priced reputable moving company. i don't have a ton of stuff (just a one bedroom apt worth) but i do need it moved. so if anyone has had any good moving company experiences (i've found scores of bad ones) i'd love a recommendation.

I'm in the process of doing a similar move. The only company I can find with mostly positive reviews is called abf u-pack. It's a pack it yourself kind of place. I'll be using them in 2 weeks, so I can let you know then how it goes.

Just a general tip. Take pictures of everything that's worth anything. I have had movers help themselves to my goods in the past. Luckily the picture evidence is hard to deny and I got reimbursed for my losses.

When I last moved, I used a local moving company that a friend had used. They were total professionals and took awesome care of me and my stuff. We were moved in one day and I hardly had to lift a thing (in fact, they asked me to stop "helping" at one point! ). It was the best $500 I EVER spent.
Just ask around. Everybody has moved at one time or another. |
Get multiple bids.
I just used Starving Students. They were neither starving, nor students, but they did a good job. |
