Pot Question (tansplanting?)

So say my friend found some pot plants on his property that were not his. Best way to discourage people from doing this shit is hack em down right?

But if my friends a pot head, and wants to transplant the motherfuckers, cuz they look nice, how to go about it?

SO say this "friend" digges em up, getting as much soil and root ball as possible and moves em. SHit, maybe they look pretty droopy.

WOuld they just maybe live? and what could my "friend" do to improve the chances?

Cycler 07-09-2004 08:30 PM

Umm Miracle Grow?<p> / I got nothin

krwlz 07-10-2004 11:33 AM

Im gunna give 'em some plant food, and some water. Im hoping it was just a little shock from being moved. I know that happens with a lot of other plants.

Im just hoping weed is tuff (if its called weeds, its gotta be tuff right?) and it doesnt interupt the growth cycle that ends in me having big free buds.

I would assume that weed is similar enough to other plants that if somone knew how to treat droopy shurbs for instance, that it might help me out.

Mix a little bit of MiracleGrow and a couple of bottle caps of Super-Thrive plant hormones in a milk jug with water. The hormones will bring just about any plant back to life and helps root damage. You can get it at a garden center.

Marijuana is extremely resilient, and does indeed grow like a weed. I would suggest removing your plants though; at the moment you've just provided sufficient information to warrant a DEA investigation into your household.

While superthrive is a great idea, I don't think miracle grow is... if a root is cut, miracle grow will just kill it. I would recommend
1.> Soaking the ground.
2.> CAREFULLY digging up as much of the plant as possible
(Remember, as above, so below...a 3ft plant will have a 3 ft taproot)
3.>Soaking the root balls in a superthrive solution untill all dirt is of them A little gentle root wash will help.
4.> Planting them in pots in soil soaked w/ superthrive.
5.> Some leaves will wither and die! This is OK! Just clip back the really bad ones.

I don't think they'd go after a couple of plants based on comments out here but I'm willing to accept that he's opened himself (or herself) up to some scrutiny. I heard it said once that "weed" was Kentucky's biggest cash crop and that at any given point in time you can find it gowing above the tops of corn stalks in many a farmer's fields. :p

Never smoke the stuff myself but it must be pretty good for the number of folk who do partake...

P.S. Well drained soil, miracle grow in a gallon of water as mentioned should help get you through.

OverGrow

Go here, to the Edge Forums, every question you'll ever have on this topic will be answered there.

You can also send me an IM with some details (plant heighth, whether it's stretching, leaves look healthy).

Don't overwater! let the soil almost dry out, then water... just send me an IM.

WHo said I have weed? I was just curious. You know, maybe if I decide to do it one day. And on the off chance I was to get investigated about it.... well, they can't find anything on my land.

j8ear 07-14-2004 06:08 PM

Mary Jane is in fact extemely resilient and the reason, as I understand it, that it is called "WEED." It grows everywhere, is naturally insect repellent and needs very little to thrive.

I have also seen some fantastic plants, resurrected and/or nurtured with fish emulsion, also available at better garden centers.

Good Luck,

IF you have female plants (no male pollen bundles, could also be hermaphrodite-happens often) and you fertilize and control the lighting you MIGHT produce something with enough THC to get you high. If this is a plain old hemp plant and "your friend" doesn't have grow lights you're probably wasting your time. Smoking herb has been bred, over thousands of years, to produce more THC. What you find growing wild will typically have few psychoactive properties.

basmoq 08-03-2004 08:39 PM

Locobot is correct, except that it doesn't take quite a thousand years, more like a few hundred, but other than that quite correct.

Also, pick up the book Indoor Marijuana Horticulture - The Indoor Bible.

Great little tips and tricks

Oh, and I always used the "blue" Miraclegrow and supplemented it with zinc. Great results

gonadman 08-04-2004 07:31 PM

Theres a product called transplantone which helps the transition. Also the fish emulsion mentioned previously works wonders- lots of nitrogen to "green up" the plant

BTW, will grow well in a sunny windowsill. Just don't let it face the neighbors.

neighbors can be real assholes sometimes...

Wouldn't the finding of a few plants more likely represent the sprouting of seeds from a "bred" variety that someone tossed rather than a wild variety? I didn't think it was an indigenous plant

krwlz 08-08-2004 07:02 PM

Someone starrted the seeds and planted the weed on property belonging to my freind.

Regardless, thanks for all the info.

splck 09-01-2004 05:21 PM

well? how did it go? Are they live and kicking?

krwlz 09-01-2004 06:26 PM

Hehehehe....

Street Veteran 09-05-2004 02:53 PM

legend says urine is a good thing to water the plant with .... dont ask why...i dunno. ummm i would hope your "friend" put them in a place with the same conditions as its orignal "home"

krwlz 09-09-2004 07:26 PM

Im currently making some of them a new home... its a long and difficult process tho, since the essence of the plant must be freed by inhalation, and I simply cant smoke much faster...

They will die.

Marijuana is one of the more difficult plantes to grow because of it's precise growing and light cycle. If he doesn't have proper humidity levels, oxygen vs. nitrogen content, and precise lighting, they won't make it past a few weeks.

If your friend wants to smoke this "stuff" then his best bet is to leave them where they are until they bud. And that all depends on what type of plant it is. Although a hemp plant produces THC it's quantity is not greater then the THC in a head of Kale lettuce.

But remember this. Cutivation of Marijuana is a felony offence in every state in the United States within some limitations (Find laws in your state). If your friend is caught with these plants he will most likely go to jail.

The "legal" thing to do would be to call the police and show them the plants. They will take care of them and most likely not hold him as a suspect because he informed authorities of their existance.

If they are on his property (Rental or purchased) and someone else turns them in he will most likely be heald as the primary suspect if not arrested to the cultivation especially if he's a "stoner". And, If they find any marijuana on him, in him, or in his house the odds are that he will be convicted.

Harvested, and some of the better weed I've smoked, thank you very much. No more risk now.
