Screen Caps (question)

Hey, anyone know how to get screen captures from AVIs, Mpegs, DVDs, etc?

Can't seem to find any program for it, and when I try to use the "Prnt Scrn" key, i just get a black screen shot where the picture should be.

here's a little trick:
during the video, hit the pause button. with the video paused, point up to the "X" on the titlebar and click once, but don't release (otherwise it will close the application)
while holding that click down, press the PrintScreen.
That should do it.

I would like to get a full screen of it though, but meh, better than nothing =)

i tried it, and you can get it copied and pasted, but then when you save it as jpeg, it goes black again, still trying to find software to do it.

to be able to make a screen cap of video, turn off hardware acelleration. When you use hardware accelerating, the video card actually "spits" the movie onto the screen. Windows doesn't really realize there's video going on. When you use software acceleration, windows is able to know what's going on, and thus can make a screen capture

right click on desktop, go to properties, click on advanced, click on troubleshoot.
