My father used ourdoor paint to paint my room. What should I do?

My family recently bought a house. And my father decided to renovate it himself. He cheaped out on the paint by buying it from the cheapest store. After seeking advice some teenager customer service, he painted the walls of my room 3 times over with this paint. But after the painting the done. He told me that he used this cheapest outdoor paint that he could buy. He also told me that the concentration of heavy metals and other toxic chemicals might by much higher than any paint Home Depote.

So what should I do now? Should I paint it over again with some paint from home depote, or should I somehow get the paint out of the room?

I would check with the manufacturer to see if there is any real hazard from it. I suspect it's not a problem. If I was still concerned about it, I would probably just put a coat of some type of sealer over it.

Once it's dry and sealed it should pose no real health hazards.

Just don't eat it.

Is he trying to give you an excuse for your pre-existing brain damaged condition?

Is he trying to tell you that you should be living outside and not in his house?

1- Interior paint is usually cheaper than exterior paint.
2- The don't use lead in consumer paint anymore.
3- After it dries, any chemicals in the paint are either gone for good or not going anywhere.

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing!

So from what I can gather of that jumble, dad said "Hey, I put 3 coats of paint in your room. Oh by the way, it's the cheapest I could find and I think it's dangerous." The dad on "That 70's Show" comes to mind.

As long as you don't go at the walls with a belt sander and then eat/inhale the dust, you'll be fine.

Exactly.

The only thing I could think is that they had some exterior paint that was tinted wrong and they were dumping it off at fire sale prices.

If it has lead or toxic heavy metals in it, you have grounds for a lawsuit. (this means you have nothing to worry about)

You can still buy lead paint, trust me, but it costs a fortune, so I doubt that it was used.

interior, exterior, doesn't really matter.

If you are going to eat the paint and you are 3 years old, and your dad used lead paint that he bought in 1968, then maybe worry.

Forget about the paint. Unless it smells bad, is chalky or a nasty color then just start worrying about something else.

I dont believe it is a hazzard. In fact it outdoor paint will last a lot longer than indoor due to the Lead and other chemicals. Unless of course you hate the color he used.
