okay, so this is a stupid question which i think i know the answer to anyways... but, i've been lazy and have never gotten around to registering to vote. i think it's about time. do i just go to the secretary of state office to do it or is it something more sinister?

Where I live you can just take care of it at the DMV...check there first.

drawerfixer 08-11-2003 11:19 PM

I didn't have time at the DMV, so they said I can register to vote whenever the elections are. It'll just take forever. :(

Be sure and register before the election. Some places (like Minnesota) will let you register the same day. Other places will require you to be registered 90/60/ however many days before the election.

It's usually easy in your state to register as a permanent absentee voter. All the ballots are simply sent to your home. No waiting in lines or driving to stink gymnasiums to vote.

In Oklahoma you can get voter registration forms at your local library. Just fill them out and mail them in.

depends on your state, could be the DMV, post office, or other. Call you local county clerk and they should be able to tell you

I don't know if someone has already said this but goto anyschool or a library.

Move to Australia.

Voting here is compulsory!

:)

Mr Mephisto

Certainly voting is compulsory here in Australia, but then it is also a responsibility. Though we have to cast our vote as an Australian, we can vote however we like so if we don't like any one on the paper then we don't have to fill anything in - so is 'voting' compulsory - certainly turning up at the polling place is but actually voting - I don't think so
