Bike innertube problems

I have gone through 3 innertubes on my back tire in two weeks because the innertubes are sliding inside the tire and the valve stem is being torn off. How can I keep this from happening?

It sounds like a size mismatch. That or you're not inflating the tube enough.

Either way it sounds like you'll need to get different tubes or tires, so when you take it in, have one of the shop staff look at it.

It sounds like the tire isn't inflated enough, or the tire isn't the proper size - too small.
Make sure that the valve stem is securely in there and put that through [the hole where it's supposed to go - don't know the technical name of it] first, then put the rest of the tube on.

By the way, have you have any problems with this before ? Are you using the same size tube as before ? What are the specs [type, wheel size, etc.] on the bicycle ?

Also, test out the back wheel by just lifting it off of the ground and move the pedals with your hand. Something might be rubbing against the tube.

Keep us updated !

catcha back on the flipside,
will.

The best solution

The best tubes to use are to switch to presta tubes. The benefit is that they have a screw down locking nut that keeps the valve in place. It also requires a different tip on the bile pump. Usually the bike pump head can be screwed apart to turn the mechanizm around to accomodate this. I agree with the other posters that youprobably have a mismatched tube. If the tire is a 2.25 and your using a kmart special one size fits all, the tube will not be as form fitting to the tire. Always pre-inlfate the tube till its round before iserting it into the tire prior to re-assembling the tire on the rim.
