Management Information Systems...
 

Just curious...

I'm currently in a Management Information Systems course, and from all we've done, it honestly seems like the course would be better off taught as a computer technology type course, instead of a business course....It may just be the way that my particular class is taught, but the majority of the class is based around internet and intranet technology, be it in any area of the Corporate business...

Not sure if anyone cares...But I was just curious if you thought it would be better taught as a business school class or a class taught in a more networking oriented platform...

Management Information Systems (MIS) can either be computer based or not. An accounting ledger is an MIS that uses a book as a collecting and distribution vehicle, and a system of equations to generate information. Most businesses focus on MIS that is based on some sort of computer based system because the speeds at which data can be collected and disseminated. Your instructors should be abstracting the MIS from the system that the MIS is distributed on.
MIS itself is definitely a business course.

Ahhhh, good point. I basically overlooked forms of MIS that were used prior to the computer age....I guess it just left me to wonder, because the class "now" seems to focus on seemingly NOTHING but computer based systems...
