corruption in Nigeria

A Nigerian MP goes to visit his Italian counterpart at his home to discuss development reforms. He is picked up at the airport by a plush limousine and whisked past security.
"Wow, how did you afford this on your salary?" he asks the Italian
"Easy, you see that school over there? 10%," he responds
"nice"

they drive a little further and pull up to a country villa with a fountain out front. "Wow, nice digs, how'd you afford this?"
"simple, you remember that military base we passed? 15%."

He takes him out back to the pool and introduces him to three platinum blonde girls sunbathing. Before the Nigerian can ask he says "10% off the city hospital."
At the end of his stay the Nigerian is very pleased and invites the Italian to visit him in Nigeria to return the favor.

He arrives and is picked up by a ten car armored caravan with suburbans and hummers. "Wow, what the..." the Italian begins
"shhh, wait" says the Nigerian
They drive out of the city and soon turn down a road lined with trees and enter a gate. They pull up to a huge mansion in a beatifully appointed estate and enter a high cielinged room with sculptures and tapastries everywhere. The Nigerian pulls him over to wall of glass looking out over the estate of farms and lush pastures and smiles.
"Now I thought I had something going, but you gotta tell me your secret... how'd you afford all this?"

"Easy, you see that road out there in the distance?"
The Italian looks for a few seconds then says, "no."
"Exactly... 100%

Hahaha

My mother worked for a Nigerian embassy for a couple of years. One year the ambassador used all the embassy's money on decorating his house. To keep them operating, Nigeria sent more money, which was also promptly spent.

oh yes, african corruption is a thing of beauty no doubt. Actually, for many low level govt. officials in africa its the only way to get money. Police routinely hustle people and let them go for a bribe because the govt. doesn't pay them sometimes.
