Halo 3/ PS3
 

From a current magazine I just read, it quoted Bill Gates saying in an interview that Halo 3 will release concurrently with the release of the new PS3. So when the Playstation 3 is released, they walk into Halo 3. Bungie denied Gates' claim, however.

Probably going to go X-box, this way I can chip the thing so I can play all the games straight off the HD. PS3 is using a diff type of media, and I am not ready to support that.

Besides halo rules!

I've read all over that Halo 3 is releasing simultaneously with PS3 as well. I'm pretty sure it's a fact. Microsoft honestly wants to be number 1 in every aspect of this console war; anything they can do to ensure a number 1 spot is being done (launching way earlier than they should, cheaper than PS3, Halo 3 launch, etc.).

i feel the same wa... but if i could chip the ps3 and use it as a pc... lol it would prolly blow my 3ghz processor out of the water, but the ram would be the suxorz

I was thinking which evil people would do that, then i realised it was microsoft. :rolleyes:

So in other words, Microsoft thinks that if they release Halo3 when PS3 is released..That Halo3 is gonna attract more attention? :lol:

I know a few people at MSFT/Bungie and they were very very burnt out from Halo 2 and weren't terribly interested in doing a third - they were looking to try something new. Now, I'm sure that the bigwigs at MSFT are demanding a third Halo, but - assuming it is made - I'm not entirely sure it would be Bungie (or the Bungie we know) responsible.

As for coinciding the release date for Halo 3 with the PS3 - that amuses me more than anything else. I don't think Sony would be too worried by the threat, as both consoles are going to be so expensive on-launch that the price alone will stop a lot of people (including me) from purchasing either.

Don't count on that. People will buy them up regardless of price.

And holding off a "launch" quality title to try to battle PS3 is a very smart marketing move. Why let PS3 get all the attention at that time?

Even if it is true, I think I will wait till I see both systems first, then I will pick them out. But I have a feeling it will be a PS3 unless it is like 500+ dollars

If what we've seen about the PS3 has been actual true to life gameplay footage, then Microsoft is screwed no matter what.

Sony has the developer support, they'll have the hardware advantage, and a rediculous fan base. If the PS3 does not have any huge launch titles, then Halo 3 will grab the media attention for a while. Gates will be happy, but in the end he's going to have to bend over and take it from the video game king.

I don't think anyone has really seen what Xbox360 can do yet. All the demos at E3 were run off of Power Macs because the hardware wasn't ready yet. I've read that the real hardware will look/sound significantly better than what we saw at E3

I believe this is similar to Final Fantasy 8 and the Dreamcast. I'll probably be getting a 360 if Perfect Dark is good (good as the original, which I have been addicted to for some time now), but I'm also more interested in 5 PS2 games and Twilight Princess for gamecube.

The backward compatibility would be nice though. I could pick up Ninja Gaiden, and Ninja Gaiden Black. That's pretty much as far as my interest goes in XBox exclusives...

If you want to play X-Box games, get an X-Box, they'll be dirt cheap when the 360 comes out.

My plan:

1. Get Halo 3 when it comes out
2. Wait until Xbox 360 and PS3 are both out
3. Decide which one to get
4. Profit!

I think I might get Xbox 360 since my brother is a big fan of playstation and might get PS3

I have a feeling that the mentality here is (and perahps rightfully so) when a dad and his kid walks into EB and asks the resident geek which is better, he'll say something along the lines of "PS3 is more powerful, has all this stuff, etc. Or there's xbox which is wicked 'cause you can play halo"

That sounds a lot better than "PS3 is better, etc, but the xbox....ummm is nice?"

I remember hearing "Get an xbox so you can play Halo" countless times a few years ago. It'll be similar this round I think. Anyone truly hardcore about this is going to get both anyways, right? ;)
