System Shock 3 (kind of)
 

This should be of interest to all you fans of System Shock 2 out there.

I'm an avid reader of Penny Arcade and the other day they made a post referencing a Gamespot.com article in which the makers of System Shock 2 (Irrational Games) looked back on the game and talked about how they thought about it as they were putting it together. It then alluded to a "big announcement" that would be exciting to those who'd liked System Shock 2 that they would make the next day.

The spiritual successor to System Shock 2 in the form of BioShock. I've dabbled in System Shock 2 and (assuming I find time) I do plan to play through the whole thing at some point, but I really like the open-ended first person style, a la Deus Ex. I'm very excited to see where this game goes and hope that either it'll work on my old gaming rig or that it'll come out after I've bought a new one. Either way, good fucking news for all. Enjoy.

I saw this on Penny Arcade as well. Looks awesome. I love the idea of the monster ecology (its in the article) and the whole 1940s tech bioresearch lab gone awry. The concept art looks sweet as well.

System Shock and System Shock 2 were incredible games, I'm hoping Bio Shock will be as good as SS1 and SS2.
