Favorite Blizzard game

I was wondering which Blizzard game this forum likes the most...
because I'm bored...

Anyways, Blizzard has made some of the most popular and influential games in the industry and are regarded my many to be the best game makers around.

Having played all of them, my favorite is Warcaft 3 with expansion. I play at least an hour a day online.
Diablo 2 is second for the addicting game play.

I predict that Diablo 2 will lead, with Starcraft in second.

Didn't include WOW.

oblar 10-06-2004 08:49 PM

you left out some other games they have done.. like the Lost Vikings :) that game rocks.

tspikes51 10-06-2004 08:58 PM

Most definately SCBW. I have spent many an hour playing it online. So fun!

mad_sn00gans 10-06-2004 09:13 PM

I voted for Diablo 2....but I have to say I think Star craft is going to take the cake

stonegrody 10-06-2004 10:09 PM

I voted for Starcraft. The Protoss rule in Brood War. With mind control, you can become all three races. Sweet.

MrFlux 10-06-2004 11:19 PM

Diablo 2 here.... although I've stopped playing it now, it's still my fav. Can't wait for the next installment in the Diablo series.

zzzsleepy 10-07-2004 12:36 AM

World of warcraft but its not on the list so D2

Slayer 10-07-2004 06:53 AM

Starcraft BW my favorite. I'm addicted to starcraft :lol:I still play this game since I got it few years ago. plus all my friends plays it. We always have a 3v3-4v4 BGH game.

Warcraft is fun 1 and 2 but I don't like 3. I hate the hero rpg element they added in. plus only 90 food limited.

Diablo is fun too but after having 3 character up to lvl 80-90 and got everything. No point going back and play it again.

shadowalker 10-07-2004 08:20 AM

I"m STILL playing warcraft I, Love that game.

For some reason I feel the need to mention that the food cap has been changed to 100 with the expansion.

omega2K4 10-07-2004 09:39 AM

I've only liked The Lost Vikings. Other than that, I think Blizzard is one of the most overrated game developers out there.

cjayemail 10-07-2004 10:24 AM

I loved diablo 2, i played it soo much when it came out, but then my interest slowly weened when i got back in everquest...that was my bane...so many days hours minutes lost to that infernal game...i want my life back

Scorps 10-07-2004 10:37 AM

I would like to have said all warcraft games 3 is the best I have played but 2 was fun.....and easy to build maps!

-Ever- 10-07-2004 11:27 AM

I played Diablo for years and years. I'm yet to even see WC3 in real time. All my friends say I'd like it, but I'm trying to not play many video games lately. Hmm, very tempting... :D

Rabid Bunny 10-07-2004 12:01 PM

Favorite is Starcraft. Soon to be replaced by World of Warcraft, assuming I get the money to play it.

Zergling rush! Kekekeke!!! ^___^

thriolith 10-07-2004 12:19 PM

I'd probably half to say Diablo or StarCraft.

Bim 10-07-2004 02:00 PM

I would have voted all of the above, but since i couldn't i have to say, Warcraft, since its the one i play more then others on a regular basis I have all their games, A+ stuff there. I <3 Blizzard. :icare:

100 food limit still isn't a lot IMO. Since most unit cost 3-4 food to make, 3-4 extra unit?

Irishsean 10-07-2004 02:28 PM

Starcraft! Worship the swarm!

Lasereth 10-07-2004 03:09 PM

Where's World of Warcraft? I've been playing it since February and it's easily my favorite. :)

-Lasereth

Carno 10-07-2004 04:22 PM

I picked WC2, but Starcraft was a close second.

have they released it yet?
if its still in beta, is it too late to join?

kurty[B] 10-07-2004 04:57 PM

I voted for the original Diablo, of course... PKing is just too much fun.

The closed-beta signups were over in February. Closed-beta is still going and most people think the game will launch in November. I think it'll be more like next year since Blizzard STILL hasn't given an official release date!

Jimellow 10-07-2004 05:17 PM

I never really got into Starcraft. I played it a few times, but Diablo 2 occupied A LOT of my time back in the day.. Very fun game, and the hunt for rares and uniques was great.

Later on, people started to bot and such, and that is about the time I stopped playing, but the game definitely occupied a lot of my time.

whocarz 10-07-2004 06:12 PM

Personally, I think Blizzard is vastly, VASTLY overrated. Oooh they put out a couple rts games and a couple action rpgs, they must be the best! Bah.

Gustoferson 10-07-2004 06:13 PM

Probably not fair for me to vote on this since Starcraft/Brood War are the only ones I've ever played on the list. Don't know why, just never got into the others. Starcraft, however, is my favorite computer game of all time. I mean damn.

My first experience with it my brother was down visiting and had a lot of burned CDs of games and told me to try it. I didn't move from my computer for the next 6 to 8 hours. It was like that for quite a while as this also coincided with a period of time where I never got tired before 4am in the morning, so it worked out well. I kept using the burnt CD (with strangely enough a CD key that worked on battle.net) for years until I finally got around to my promise of buying the real thing, just out of loyalty.

The ending cinematic in Starcraft was great, an awesome payoff after playing through everything.

Howdee 10-07-2004 09:36 PM

Starcraft/Broodwars is still played by myself, brother, and Dad. I actually stayed up all night hitting the refresh key the night Broodwars went gold. Just hanging out on Blizzard's website and surfing the B.Net forums.

I am curious where Rock-n-Roll Racing is. It was another great game put out by Blizzard.

Peace

Howdee

Ya that sucks but I go into to unit controls and chane it to either 1 or no food

That way you can get like 1,000 footman and they don't need food :D

bltzkriegmcanon 10-08-2004 09:33 AM

Oh man. I really wish WoW was on this list. Really, really wish WoW was on this list. That game is freakin' awesome.

japhyryder 10-08-2004 12:20 PM

Diablo any rumors on 3?

exizldelfuego 10-08-2004 03:03 PM

I loved Warcraft II. I went to a private high school (and thus lived on campus) so on the weekends, me and my friends would sneak into the computer lab, load Warcraft II on the machines, and spend all of Sat/Sun in there. Best time ever.

Never really got into Starcraft, though. Probably because I've always been a mac user, and Starcraft never made it out while I was interested in it. I ought to try Warcraft III...

Mordroc 10-08-2004 07:12 PM

I've gotta go with D2, I wasn't into gaming during the golden age of starcraft, though I can certainly appreciate the game. D2 and I have a long-lasting relationship.

usrbinboy 10-08-2004 08:45 PM

D2 4 Eva (i can't believe I just typed that)

pazuzu 10-08-2004 08:58 PM

Starcraft for me

And I will admit openly it probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm an old school Warhammer 40k junkie (read geek). Starcraft's 3 races are very distinctive. They're all fun and diverse enough so everyone seems to have a solid favorite. And like Howdee said, there are so many of us who still play the hell out of that game. Also, for those who have a preference for SC, I was fortunate enough to hop on the Dawn of War beta (WH 40K again, see?), and that game kicks so much ass. As Blizzard has seen fit to provide 3 Warcrafts, not counting WOW and 2 Diablos without updating SC at all, it may be the only forseeable alternative to a new SC. I must recommend it most highly. Back to SC; As any Terran lover knows, "Nuclear launch detected" is the happiest phrase in video game history.

Kepage23 10-08-2004 10:39 PM

Went with Warcraft 3, but I love all the games, especially the warcraft games. I think the biggest thing I liked about 3 was the map building. Sure it may be hard to make a map, but there is so much you can put into the maps you build. Also, it has a great multiplayer, especialy the tower defense maps.

LeviticusMky 10-08-2004 10:49 PM

Hell yeah! I knew Starcraft would take the cake!

Diablo 2 is good, but tooooo linear, DIablo 1 was groundbreaking, but it's old now.

Starcraft is by far and away the best RTS that has been made. Period. The balance of the races hasn't been equated in any game that I've seen. The balance of units WITHIN the races make them even more awesometastic.

I liked the Command and Conquer series too, but I still load Starcraft on my machine from time to time... it's timeless...

There is always rumors about games like that

pacaveli 10-10-2004 11:17 AM

i hope they make diablo 3 like WoW but without the money cost. They done other battle.net online for free, i dunt see why they need the money, they make so much off the games themselves

kd4 10-10-2004 11:49 PM

war3 is good, but starcraft is just a classic. I played that game for a good 3-4 years, and its still fun to play.

dbc 10-11-2004 12:14 AM

i voted for d2. I like all of their games but I was never very good at the others

Itachi 10-11-2004 10:07 AM

I chose WC3 since it's the only Blizzard game I played. But I really want to play WoW when it comes out.

Stompy 10-11-2004 11:32 AM

hahaha Blizzard isn't overrated  (sometimes I wonder if people know what overrated means..)

That's like saying Id software or Square-Enix is overrated. Even their WORST titles hit #1 and become best-sellers.

If each game you release goes straight to #1, stays there for quite some time, and even becomes game of the year to MANY different sources, then, flat out, you are one of the best. The end. No questions about it, really. Might not be your cup o tea, but certainly doesn't mean they're overrated ;)

Anyway, I have to say War3 or D2.

Willravel 10-11-2004 11:47 AM

I've been playing StarCraft for years (I'm justwill). I love it and I'll continue to play it until I find something I like more. I haven't yet.
SC2, which is still in the rumor only stages, would be nice. I really couldn't say if they'll do it, though.

AndTylerToo 10-11-2004 01:12 PM

I know its not on the poll but I'm gonna make an exception ;) . I'd have to say that World of Warcraft is by far their best game yet. It is so incredibly fun, it may even be my favorite game yet, the world is so rich, the gameplay is so amazing. GREAT GAME!!!

NegativeNine 10-11-2004 02:56 PM

THE LOST VIKINGS!!! j/k
I don't play any of them regularly, but I still fire up d3, sc, and wc3 occasionally

gyroscope 10-12-2004 03:55 AM

i voted rof wc3.it is one of the best games i've ever played!

They do this so people the crack the game and D/L it have to pay to play it....so they will get money out of you one way(or both)

tupacalypse1622 10-13-2004 10:43 AM

curse diablo 2...its eaten up many hours of my life....and i still play it to this day...

Ace_O_Spades 10-13-2004 12:38 PM

I voted Diablo 2, simply for the hundreds of hours invested (read: wasted) in that game

fugue_life 10-14-2004 05:42 PM

My enitre floor of my dorm played starcraft when it came out, only a few of made it to graduation cause of that game Diablo 2 was pretty sweet and I put way to many hours into that game, but nothing beats the sound of SIEGE TANKS going into seige mode directly outside your base... And I agree the new WarHammer game was pretty sweet and great game for those who stopped playing starcraft, but Blizzard over-rated, please...

whocarz 10-14-2004 09:57 PM

Sorry if my opinion pisses all you fanboys off, but it's what I believe. I don't care if a game is a best seller. The Sims franchise is probably the best selling of all time, and I think they are boring and pointless. I'm not saying Blizzard makes bad games, far from it. I played Starcraft and Diablo. I liked both, they were good games. But to claim it's the best company ever, then get all defensive when I disagree is silly. My issue with it is that people treat Blizzard like gods. It's just sad to see people lombotomized by the video game hype machine. The way I see it, it's similar to the idolization of pop music stars. But I get the feeling I'm wasting my time here...

meepa 10-14-2004 10:55 PM

I voted for wc3 because I played that one the most and beat myself up to get to the top of the ladders. Perhaps I should have said SC because I didn't take it as seriously and as such, probably had more fun. Oh well, there's always WoW to crush them both and sap away my life some more

Undercover_Man 10-14-2004 11:21 PM

STARCRAFT ALL THE WAY!!! I love SC...great game...

I can't even count the times i've been called a fanboy... I just ignore it now because more often than not the person calling you a fanboy is far more ignorant than you are

beckett111 10-17-2004 01:37 AM

Diablo II, Its one of the first I um .....cheated at *shame*, I found a great save game editor and had way to much fun making uber items. this unfortunatley ruined (closed)battle.net for me. I got to used to be unstopable, to have that stripped away was unacceptable! jk, I did go through the entire game before I edited it ...I swear.

Madd 10-17-2004 06:58 AM

Yes starcraft and broodwar was classic games and i never thought anything would top them, but then warcraft 3 and FT came out and i was proven wrong :)

I think ill take the same stand on war3 and hope that starcraft 2 has the same effect when it comes out :)

Gatorade Frost 10-17-2004 07:54 AM

Starcraft hands down. No contest. I haven't pulled longer nights on any other game. Ever.

P.S. - Except Sim City.

Bongomanrae 10-17-2004 11:21 AM

I voted Diablo 2: LoD but Starcraft: BW is just as great imho. I treasure both.

DarkPho 10-17-2004 11:45 AM

Single Player: Diablo 2 - Lots to do. I never played the multiplayer side though unfortunately.
On a Lan: Starcraft - We had it installed on the school PCs and they let us play it every thursday night. Nothing cooler than 4 mates having a round. Cept when they start adding "Don't attack me yet". Always fun when they forget your there and you bring all your ships out to suprise them...

saut 10-17-2004 02:06 PM

I have to say Warcraft II for nostalgia purposes. So much fun playing that game, as well as making maps, which was very, very easy, especially for someone my age (I guess I was about 11-12 at this time).

bubbagump 10-17-2004 05:06 PM

Starcraft. I played D2 for a long time, and WC2 as well, but starcraft was definitely the best of them.

Kaos 10-17-2004 05:18 PM

Another vote for Starcraft. No matter what games are out or that I am currently playing, I always return to Starcraft.

yodatreat 10-17-2004 05:21 PM

StarCraft is damned near perfect, though I have been loving WoW. I guess it doesn't count yet as it's still beta :)

you're right, blizzard games are hyped to no end. but in the end, you can't deny that they deliver, so no real problem, games like FF11? yea pretty hyped, but turns out it wasn't that great of a game. know what I'm pointing at? dunno why but can't really explain what i'm trying to say.

mkultra 10-17-2004 06:42 PM

Gotta be Warcraft one and two. I think they went downhill with three, mainly because I liked the massive army battles, and I don't like how three made it into more squad fighting with the heroes.

DarkPho 10-20-2004 06:50 AM

I didn't enjoy warcraft. It seemed like a real pain starting off, you just sat there waiting for the resources to pile up until you bought something else. A game like Red Alert 2 was much more fast paced and enjoyable.

I wouldn't say StarCraft was perfect, the multiplayer computer opponents were appalling, too hard to beat. The single player campaign seemed a little iffy too.

Paradise Lost 10-20-2004 07:13 AM

Diablo 2, spent too many nights up at my friends house playing till 5 in the morning with
the level 99 sorceress we had, just trying to get items from Mephisto runs to SELL to other
people for items for our crappier characters. Go figure.

Rinndalir 10-20-2004 08:03 AM

I've played the hell out of all of them but my favorite has to be Diablo 2...multiplayer is just so much fun in that game. I play it with my friends and my brother at least once a month.

These are peoples opinions. Everyone likes the games they like. My wife loves the sims games and I can't stand them. I like Starcraft and Warcraft but don't really care much for Diablo. But so what?

I didn't see where anyone got defensive, albeit I didn't read every thread, other than when you had to throw in the "fanboys" and the "It's sad to see people lobotomized....." comments.

This was a thread about what was/is the FAVORITE FORUM blizzard game.

jamessh1 10-20-2004 12:01 PM

I'm choosing Lost Vikings just because i spent so much time on that game back in the day. I don't think i was ever able to complete it, I may have to find it on the comp with an emulator.

It's been ported to the GBA it that helps. I might end up getting it seeings people have good things to say about it.

Jay_Jay 10-20-2004 12:41 PM

Went with Diablo 2, just because I like that type of game more than SC or WC, but those two are the best of their category.

Dungeon_Shade 10-20-2004 01:10 PM

I will go with Diablo 2/LOD. Personally, Starcraft is my least favorite blizzard game. It bores me to the point of frustration. I honestly think it is my least favorite RTS. Then again, I am probably saying this because I suck at it, but GOOD LORD. It pales in comparison to Rise of Nations and the old Age of Empires games.

AntoineMartinez 10-23-2004 07:21 PM

WCIII because it's the only one i played :P

aerozeppelin 10-24-2004 12:37 PM

Definately Starcraft/Brood War, though WC/WC II/Expansion are a close second. WC III has too much emphasis on micromanagement for my tastes. DIablo II was my favorite until they deleted my character due to inactivity.

Just wanted to point out that many other game makers must see something in Blizzard. How many different Diablo knock-offs have there been? Blizzard is considered to be one of the best cuz they start the trends.

And I voted WC3, but it was definitely a tough choice Diablo 2, WC2, and SCBW are all right up there on my list.

onodrim 10-27-2004 02:10 PM

Diablo II, in fact I'm going to go play some now...:p
