Tiger Woods 2004 or 2005?

okay... i had the opportunity to play tiger woods 2k5 and against all odds, decided that i really dig a golf game. i'd love to pick it up, but i'm not exactly financially able to go buy games at the drop of a hat. it'd be much easier on my wallet if i just picked up 2k4, but i'm not sure if the downgrade will be missing too much.

so my question is simple: for those who have played both, is it really worth the extra money to buy Tiger Woods 2005 as opposed to 2004? would i really be missing that much if i got 2k4?

They are basically the same game, but with a few tweaks and addition (2005 has the new "Tigerproofing" option which basically allows you to change the layout of the course to make it more difficult.). Both still have the amazing "GameFace" character creation mode, in which 2005 has several new tweaks and options. You wouldn't really be missing out on anything (Unless you play your games online, obviously more people will be playing the new game) if you chose Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 over the new 2005 game.

i still don't have the network adapter for my ps2, so that's not gonna be part of the buying decision

Just to say, I have yet to play either one. But I've played the hell out of 2003.

The only difference I can think of would be the extra courses, the Tiger Proofing (replayability), Legends Tour, and the extra features in GameFace. The core gameplay itself remains the same besides being able to move the position of the ball in your stance. It's been said that 2005 is just a tweaked and highly polished (perfected, even?) version of what 2004 set out to do.

Since you don't have the cash to spend, I'd go with 2004. You're still going to have a lot of fun with it, especially if you "dig a golf game." 2005 probably has better replayability, but while you're playing you should be having just as much fun with 2004.

Enjoy!

I have TW2004 after owning 2002 and playing it to death. I have played 2005 and would say that your not missing much with the 2004 game, some new courses have been added but 2004 is pretty complete game, both world and pga tours. lots of courses and the graphics are about the same (ps2 for me). hope this helps. got my 2004 used btw.

Only thing I saw in 2005 that made it worth it was the "tiger vision" feature.. otherwise I still hav emore fun playing HotShots golf 3/4

** I played 2004/2005, this wasnt just looking at features when I said that.

I have 2004 for the Xbox and it gets really easy. I can get -50 on an average 4 day tour, so it's kinda pointless to play them. The difficulty options are set to the hardest, unless i start taking away silly things like the wind dial which a player would obviously be able to tell when he's standing there (roughly).
The changing the green thing in 2005 sounds interesting and should extend play a bit, but i haven't seen it in work yet.

TW 2004 is a great game, but it does get too easy after a while. But, you can take away the caddy tips and other things to make it more difficult. In TW 2005, I believe that there's a difficulty mode that makes it fairly hard, but I actually have not played 2005. Other than that, you are basically looking at the same game.

Is their any difference in advanced control options like the new Hit Stick for Madden 2005?
