I got the Beta. It's such an amazing game. Relic has got to be the best developer of all time. It's an RTS game but there are no peon units. You just control strategic points that get you more units. But who cares about that! The battles are absolutely awesome. All the units actually interact with each other when they fight, so they block and dodge attack etc. Some of the attack animations are so stunning like when a Dreadnought rampages though poor Eldar tearing them up with his claw. The graphics are just amazing, the interface is great, the AI is very good and the atmosphere is awesome. Ahhhh! I am freaking out!

With Rome: Total War coming out this fall as well this is going to be an amazing year for RTS games.

Ah, good. I was hoping Warhammer would live up to what I've seen of it. Sounds pretty sweet.

Ah I remember playing the first warhammer games many moons ago. Will this new one be a futuristic setting or more of a middle ages kinda thing?

Futuristic - which I am glad for. Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 world is probably the coolest futuristic concept out there.

I seriously cannot fucking wait for this game. I love the tabletop version, but holy shit after the new GW price hike its so damn expensive. For 50 bucks I can get a full game..no more investments.

I am so syked for this game! Seen a couple of videos and screenshots on Gamespot and it looks totally awesome! Hopefully they'll be an expansion pack before long with some more races, like the IG and 'nids! I think with a bit (or maybe a lot) of work, the nids could make a great RTS army. Having seen what they've done with the Avatar and Bloodthirster, imagine what they could do with Hive Tyrant's and Carnifexs!

Does anyone know when this is hitting the shelves? I have always loved the Warhammer universe but thought the past games have generally sucked. But the screens of this one looks amazing.

The Demo is fucking amazing. I played Warhammer tabletop a LONG time ago and are recently getting back into it. Such an amazing universe.

I enjoy the demo, even though I normally hate RTS. I do however think the tabletop game is much better than DoW.

Errrr... it SHOULD be on shelves tomorrow... If it's not, there will be some unhappy folk (not as many as were pissed that Fable was a day late in most areas of the US).

Played the demo, looks great. Got it on preorder, should arrive pretty soon (release date is the 24th over here).

Use to play a lot of Warhammer, Warhammer 40k and Epic in my teens

Great games just not many people play them around my area any more.

yeah, the demo got me hook, line, and sinker. Never was a big warhammer fanatic (honestly I never even knew anything about it), but this is seriously bad ass. Getting the full game ASAP, can't wait to try out the forces of Chaos. Massive demon brigade, DESTROY!!

From what I've read. You play only the Space Marines in the SP game. MP you can pick one of the four races. Should be intresting.

What would be fun is a MMORPG bassed on it

Just got my copy today, and I am most impressed. The melee combat is especially cool, all the units actually interact with each other. I only played a little bit, but the options for combat look like they give lots of strategical(sp?) options. Or you can just run everything over with tanks.

I installed the demo and tried playing it but the fonts on the menus and even the splash screen were all screwed up and I couldn't read them. I haven't tried it again since then, too busy, has anyone else run into this or is it just my system?

Got it myself. Playing through the campaign atm.

Has one of the best intro's to any game I have seen. Very cool. I could watch that into over and over.

this is great news - i've been waiting for a good game based in the warhammer 40k universe.

i've heard that they are working on a mmorpg set in the warhammer fantasy universe. the market is so saturated tho, it's going to be hard to make an impact.

Back to DoW. Amazing game. Just played the single player side of it so far. Its very addictive. Cant wait to try a few online games.

On another note, there is already a few MODS coming out for it.
40k Epic (if anyone's use to play the board game, I did. Preferred it over 40k)
Tryion Army
Imperial Army
An also a 40k rule book mod (so you have to buy your army at the start of the game and not produce it as you go along).

Should make things interesting.
