Do you know this 80's game?

Does anyone remember a video game from the mid 80's, sort of like Gauntlet but took place in the 1930's? It had 3 maybe 4 players in a top down point of view

* One character was like Indiana Jones and had a whip, power ups made the whip longer and strong.

* A woman character who tossed a spear

* A Flame thrower and a Laser rifle that could set the bushes on fire and hurt your fellow players

* You fought giant spiders and assorted creatures.

Any help would be appreciated - its been bugging me for YEARS!

I've been looking on this site for clues -

Found this, but none of them look like what you're looking for: http://www.crashonline.org.uk/43/runagain.htm

Do you recall if it's a cabinet, console or pc type game?

Can you describe the screen or what the characters looked like? It's just on the edge of recognizable to me. Not that I'll remember the name but it sounds really familiar. A little more info (any bit at all) may just push it to the front of my memory.

Just to double check-you know you can use " site:www.klov.com "Number of Simultaneous Players: 4" " at google to call up all 4 player arcade games on the site? Make sure to click the "show additional results", as there are several unique ones that get filtered out. Come back with 314, which is a lot easier to wade through the the 4000+.

Description
Choose any of three characters in this adventure type game. Wander around several landscapes fighting off a variety of enemies. Uncover and pick-up food to replenish your rapidly diminishing health.
Game Introduction
There are three characters, each controlled by a different player, who carry different weapons: Labryna, a woman in a pink dress who wields a sword; Zorlock, a man in a white suit who carries a spear; and Condor, an Indiana Jones look-alike who carries a whip.
Game Play
The object of the game is to travel throughout the many areas of the game in an attempt to escape from the world in which you are trapped by destroying the leader of the Demon empire. The enemies include rats, giant spiders, skeletons and other monsters.
Players can pick up special items to help them in their quest including:

Magic Power that makes their weapons more powerful
Laser Guns that can disintagrate enemies
Flamethrowers that can burn enemies
Shields that protect from enemy attacks
Dynamite that can blow up the enemies
Speed-Ups that can increase their speed
Food that can replentish their energy levels.
In each area, the player(s) must find a key that will open the door that will lead to the next area. The Start button will display map which will provide clues to where the keys and the doors are, but it only works in certain areas.

There are 40 different areas in that world that the player(s) must explore before they can find and destroy the Demon leader and then return home.

There is an ending, but finding your way there takes a significant amount of skill or luck, depending on how you look at it. It requires mapping and exploration for the most part. The ending shows the character(s) sitting atop The Statue of Liberty.

Miscellaneous
This game is also known as Devil World.
Konami's board code is GX687.

Technical
The main processors are a pair of 68000 CPUs. The sounds are generated by a Z80, a Yamaha 2151 and 3012, a Konami custom IC and a UPD7759C.
Trivia
Due to the complexity and difficulty of this game, it never faired well in the arcades. The title would have been much better suited for the home game market.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. It's right at the top. I guess it kind of looks like and ad so maybe that's why it was missed?

He said he was in search of the MAME (by which I assume he means a rom) , not the name.

However, since now we are treading dangerously close to forbidden territory, so I am going to suggest no one attempts to help him with that.

You guys seem to have segwayed into an entirely different language. What is a MAME and rom? I too assumed that he had just misspelled name.

MAME is "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator", software that allows you to run arcade games on a home computer. The ROM is the read-only memory from the arcade game, which you need a copy of as well. The MAME is legal (IANAL), but you can only legally use a ROM from an arcade game that you personally own. To tell more would get into warez-type issues, but Google can answer more for you.

No need for more. Thanks for the explanation. Now that you elaborated on MAME I recall reading about it a while ago.

To me I would want the actual game console rather than just the opportunity to play it. Not that there weren't some great games I'd love to play again but playing them using new joysticks and the like just doesn't seem right. You need to contend with the quirks of the original IMO. Of course, I have nowhere to fit the full sized games but that's another issue entirely.
