Harvest Moon:Back to Nature is easily one of my top 20 or so games of all time. I played the pile that was the ps2 incarnation of Harvest Moon, but haven't picked up any others. I've looked at AWL many many times, and will probably pick it up one of these days, although I can tell from the articles I've read that it probably won't hold a candle to BtN for me.

I love Harvest Moon. The SNES one and Back to Nature were the ones I enjoyed the most.

Yeah, I loved the SNES one. Pity it ended =( I messed with the PS1 version for a while, but then kinda lost interest. I should really get back into it, it's my favourite incarnation of it =)

Karby, I don't think anybody on here would laugh at you for Harvest Moon, it's a damn innovative series. Now if you were posting about a Hentai game or something along the lines of Paintbrawl Extreme, then I'd personally laugh all the way home at your ass.

I always try my hardest in Hentai games, but I always find that "the princess is in another castle, being raped by some scary Japanese tentacle monster".

/really only funny if you get both references

oh. sorry. it just seemed to me that the HM series is not the type of games that players here would be interested in picking up. so, i'm wrong

...they have a play as female version?!? when did that happen? and how come i didn't hear about it?
i'd recommend awl. in this one your kid grows up....and you get old. also i think this is one of the few hm games that have an actual ending. but so far, it looks like no one really knows, because no one seems to have beaten it yet

yeah, its pretty good.

I got the regular version, when we bought it the female-version wasn't around yet. I didn't know it was now, actually.

I played everyday all day until my little man got married. (I was sick in bed for like 2 weeks, it was a good excuse) I stopped playing after they had the kid. Its still fun, I just don't have time right now.

I know there are Japanese versions of certain games in the series where you can play as a female, but I didn't think any had been released in English. I hear the games end when you get married in those versions.

The only ones in the series I don't own are the GBC ones (I hear you can be male or female in part 3, though it doesn't affect gameplay). My favorite is a tossup between Back to Nature and Friends of Mineral Town, though 64 shares many of the same charms.

AWL is a good game, but I don't really like the characters in the town as much as other versions. In fact, I even like the villagers in Save the Homeland better than the folks in the GC one.

Crazy

In GBC 3 playing as the boy meant you did all the field work, if you played as the girl you took care of the animals. Also, if you played as the girl you had to get the guy to marry you.

Probably the best Harvest Moon ever is Friends of Mineral town for the GBA. It's basically an expanded version of the PS1's Back to Nature. Really the Biggest plus of FoMT over BtN is FoMT has no load times.

The worst has to be Save the Homeland for for PS2.

Harvest Moon is excellent. I have only played the GameCube and the Friends of Mineral Town game on GBA. Both are excellent, but will take up a lot of your time because they are that good!!

I have played the SNES version, and might grab the GBA version.

The SNES version was fun as hell. I played that game so many times, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen after the first run through it. The only game I have ever played through multiple times.

yeah, i think awl was released too soon. this game has a lot of glitches, and some of the text is screwd too. that missing calf is gonna be sick when he comes back and that means lots of g's on medicine. you can't sell the goat, even after it's done giving milk, the shed won't open, tartan has a 40% fail rate...and so on. even though none of the glitches are really that serious, i still think natsume should've spent a little more time polishing those corners or something...
