and DOOM III is supposed to be coming out on the XBOX

does this mean that computers with those specs could run DOOM III? does the xbox being a 128-bit system have anything to do with it?

If Doom 3 came on the Xbox, it would be modified to work on the xbox, it wouldn't be the PC version. So it could probably be modified to run on the crappy hardware of the xbox. Also, as the xbox always has the same configuration, the developers can optimise the code to run on the xbox hardware, as opposed to having to make it compatible with thousands of different setups

that is correct. but you're also forgetting that the xbox only runs a game, and not an Operating System at the same time. Imagine the system resources that are spared! That's the reason a lot of console games are giving the PC world a run for their money. They are dedicated gaming machines when a game is in.

oh, and Doom III IS "coming on the xbox," the graphics look superb so far judging by the screenshots. We'll have to see the framerate to made a clear judgment on the graphics though.
