Can't wait..been playing DAOC for the past 2 years..tried FFXI but couldn't get into it..hope this game is good and hope I get into beta :D

I've never beta tested a game before. I think I'll apply. That way if the game ends up sucking, you can all blame me. :) I'll defenatly have to read the FAQ when that appears.

Word of advice, when they ask you if you've ever had experience Beta testing other games, just say yes.

I'm the bastard who lies all the time and then can't be arsed downloading the Beta when I get accepted.

Looks like its gonna be a great game, I tried getting in the Diablo 2 beta back in the day, but I was under 18.. I would love to get in the beta for this game especially since it's free :) MMORPG's are too $$ for me, usually..

That's kinda like me. I've beta tested several MMORGs then I never buy the game when it's released :(
Of course most of the games I've beta tested I didn't think would be worth the money play after I'd seen the basics...

By "noone" I assume you mean "Anyone" There is a thing called a FAQ to read, there are things to do. And ANYONE that signs up for a beta SHOULD KNOW.. that not everything is going to be complete. Thats why its called BETA and not DEMO. We're not signing up to play a game for free thats not complete... We're signing up to help the game get complete and be one sweet game. Playing it will be fun, but knowing I did my part to make the game Grade A material is why I beta test.

Actually, this is Blizzard's point. They want to simulate the game running with fucking idiots playing it. When the game is released, there will be people that bitch about features and non-features. I think it's smart to simulate the real-gaming world with a beta...better than letting all gamers who know what they're doing into it. That'd be simply concentrating on one market.

They have to make it user friendly for anyone so if stupid computer users can figure out what to do then they will be set.

Experience with MMORPG's is not always what they are looking for. Basically, you want to be representitive of a group they might not have many of. They want to get input from all different types of customers.

I hopped on that bitch at 9:00 P.M. EST exactly. Mega denial of service attack. WAY too mcuh traffic on that site at once. I wouldn't try it for at least a couple of days, at least until all this settles out a bit.

Just curious how many of you are signing up for the world of warcraft beta and if any of you people get in see if wanna work together assuming many people get in. Cant imagine a ton of cd keys and the bnet site has crashed thanks to all the registering people

( registering started at 6 PM PST today and ends in a week, the choosing of people isnt determined by order of entry so dont rush just curious if people are interested/ how many knew

Haha, I waited on their forums for about 30 minutes before it was launched... 2 minutes before the Beta signup went live, someone posted a legit link to the signup page. I managed to get in, fill out the form, and attempt to click "Continue" before it cut me off... I tried going back and clicking it once or twice but no luck. I just hope that those 3 times didn't count, or I'm disqualified :(. I'm not even going near the site any more until the weekend. Blizzard.com has added these updates:

For some reason, that little program that detects your settings didnt work and I had to manually enter in stuff. Hopefully Blizz won't disqualify me cause I know in the past, they've had people lie about system specs.

Cute, very naive as well. That's what they're supposed to do, but they don't do it.

A FAQ is a long piece of paper which said tards typically do not read, and a beta is a process they don't fully understand. I believe you have some experience in this department (not reading/understanding), because had you understood my point you'd have refrained from insulting my intelligence and posting your redundant bit (I know what they're supposed to do, they don't do it. Hence I don't like them, and express my opinion on their ugly faces).

Having beta'd dozens of products myself I can say with certainty people will not work, rather they will play. And bitch about it not being fun. To think people sign up to work rather then play a free game is crazy, and you can tell by the sheer amount of irresponsible assholes exploiting bugs rather then reporting them, people that PK others that are testing gameplay, and those who take over an entire spawn of creatures so they can level faster.

If you're going to talk to me, please pretend like you have a shred of decency. I'm going to expect not to see any personal attacks the next time you speak up.

No, it's not meant as a blanket statement, I felt it was obvious but I'll spell it out. To clarify, about 95% of testers don't know what they're doing, or know what they're supposed to do and don't do it anyways. As a majority, one can typically refer to them as beta testers in general rather then a specific minor sect of the whole group.

I know what I said, and it's true. Perhaps you'd better clarify your post because it sure as fuck sounds like you're insulting me.

That's an estimate based on first hand experience beta'ing 30+ products, conversing with developers/designers and being abreast with the mmorpg community since its start.

So, it seems that the beta signup period ended yesterday... I'm just curious if anyone here was accepted. If you were, you should let us know, so we can envy you.

They haven't started the selections yet, and depending on what the NDA says, the beta users might not be able to even say they are testing.

Hrmmm.. my beta testing experience states otherwise. Yes there seems to be a large amount, but of course.. the ones actually doing the testing aren't heard from, as they're too busy testing than complaining. Also some people dont' state the bugs they've found because they read up and notice that its already been stated.. thus they look like they aren't testing, even though they are. Some further, still test, except they merely tell the guy who does the most, as his tend to get read more often. So really, I think 95% is wrong. A 'most' blanket statement, I might be willing to accept.. maybe 60% I would think about.. but 95% is most definately not in the cases I have seen.

Blizzard had better not disapoint. This is one game that I have been looking forward to since it was announced.

Just to let everyone know, there will be an open beta about a week or two before it goes retail where everyone can sign up and play (this has been confirmed by Blizzard). Blizzard also stated that the ballpark figure for valid beta entries was about 275,000 entries from total (including Korea, US, and Canada) which is a much lower number than expected. This means chances are good!
