"its Ok" Its decent, but I wouldn't rave about it. Especially since no one, and I mean NO ONE provides cover fire. its basically a Solo Game wher eyou have one life. Yeah don't flame me saying its not liek that when you play, but thats all I have seen, whether I'm the one playing or not. Also, A mod that causes the last remaning man to just fucking hide and wait for people gets a fucking bad grade in my book. If I am the last person, I say 'fuck it' and try to go out in blazing glory. But most people just fucking camp!!! The game goes on for another 10 minutes because he wants to get one last cheap kill.

The only mod thats come close to topping CS IMO is Day of Defeat - yet they provide drastically different gameplay experiences.

Don't judge a mod on the behavior of others who play it. CS is the largest FPS multiplayer wise I believe (its losing ground but used to completely dwarf everything) - with such a high concentration of players public game experiences can be discouraging. Given time though its not the case, especially if you get into league play, ie CAL or OGL.

Tip for "getting better quality teamwork out of any mod"

Get a mic(if supported,otherwise use teamspeak, ventrilo, etc.)

Play on a good server(ask around the community)

Play on one server a lot, get to know the people that frequent your server.

If you do this, all games become more fun. Im not going to give cover fire or backup to some random person who plays on my server, and doesnt even call for it through a mic. I play on 2-3 servers, and i know just about everyone that plays on those servers. We cooperate, "give cover fire", etc. And if you play on a decent server, you dont get mad campers, cause they get slayed/kicked etc. If you want a better experience w/ fps, you have to get involved in the community and do your best to contribute. Sounds kinda like lots of other things in life.

Why oh why do people still play this dinosaur??? A way better alternative to this mod is the Urban Terror mod for Q3. The quake engine is far superior than the half life engine.

I dunno, I;m still partial to Tribes even though it lacks in graphics, etc. CS get boring after a while.

the game ownz and i usually concentrate all my playing on one server.

as people suggested, the admins usually slap/kick extreme campers and use voice com a lot.

the game rocks. (so does tfc)

CS used to be awesome in its time, it got way too old and way overplayed, but a CS mod for Half-Life 2 would be super awesome.

cs was cool until i got banned for life bacause of a false positive by the VAC, so now i play ET, and its a much better game in all respets. But i might give 1.6 a go when steam gets here, any time now, i can feel it

I like it and still play it a bit, best bet on teamwork is to join a decent clan, its so much better with some organisation

Nothing wrong with Counterstrike itself, but I used to have to often go to an internet cafe to check my email and TFP. If I happened to be there around 3pm, the local high school kids would invade en masse to play network Counterstrike. Apparently some fellow named 'Sweeny' was among them because every five minutes, a shrill unbroken child's voice would scream out "STOP CAMPING SSSSWWWWEEEEENNNNYYYY". I didn't know whether to laugh or throw a chair in the group's general direction. I hated the players, not the game.

Which I guess in the language of 13 year old Counterstrike whiggers makes me a "playa hata".

It was good when it came out..but other MODs have come up and made it kind of obsolete. I've been playing Natural Selection.

it would be fun to see a large bullet go through all three necks. I play CS still everyday I try to play on the same server evertime i've become friends with several of the top players I HATE playing on other servers. I also only play iceworld it's the fastest gameplay server.

The best way to get around the whole camping thing is to run your own server and slap the hell out of them. Heh.

Then again, there is always the alien/zombie/houndeye/headcrabs plugin. I love spawning them on unsuspecting campers and watching them freak out from their quiet camping place.

love it and still play it on occasion. defiantly ahve to find a good server and get to know the people in it. Otherwise you are most likly to run into the cheater and campers.
