Whats the worst game you ever played?
The worst game i ever played has to be SuperMan for the N64. That game sucks in every way imaginable the controls, the graphics, the gameplay, it just sucked. Oh and if any of you guys are ever thinking about getting some N64 games I WARN YOU TO NOT GET THIS ONE it will be a waste of your time and money, shoot it would be a waste of your money if it was free.
That was a truely horrid game.
I think for the most part I haven't played many awful games. I generally stick to my favorite developers (Blizzard for instance)... I also don't buy too many games in any given year, and I generally check reviews for whatever games I get as opposed to rush out and buy something because of some superficial hook. Heroes of Might and Magic 4 was a big letdown though. Hardly worst game, just disappointing. |
ET for Atari.
One word, Daikatana
Myth III: The Wolf Age..well compared to the other 2
Worst game I have played in a while is probably either lionheart or unreal 2, mainly because both of them are way too short. And in lionheart the game just doesn't work right if you try and be a caster(lack of mana).
I'd have to go with Daikatana
AO
Unlimited saga and ET.
postal 2 is the worst game i've played. they just completely overdid the gore to meet their goal of the goriest game ever. it gets boring after about a minute of playing.
Oooh, forgot about Postal 2. Yeah, thats got even Daikatana beat in terms of sheer crappiness.
Messiah.
Xtreme G 3 Shogun: Total War Just to name a few. |
fantastic 4 for PS1
Friday the 13th - NES . I still remember the weekend I rented that from blockbuster. After 5 minutes I think I started clipping my toenails. That was more enjoyable.
Time splitters for PS2 damn thats a lame game!!!
Beethoven for Snes... I've spent almost a decade trying to rub the memory of that game out of my head...
Where's Wally/Waldo for Genesis. I think it had one tune, absolutely horrible graphics, it was easy as piss and I think I finished it in about 15 minutes. Most pathetic game ever, would have had kids bawling their eyes out on christmas day I reckon, pure evil :'(

Kabuki Warriors!
X-Com: Apocalypse was decidedly horrifying.
Impossible Creatures was the sux0r. Mr. Moe, they released the source code for Myth III to the users, who have since patched it and turned around to some degree, might want to look into that. |
pong
Legends of Wrestling 2
Absolutely terrible. |
Deer Avenger.
A boy and his blob.
The Addams Family for Genesis.
*shakes fist at Uncle Fester* Damn you and your lightbulb! |
Soul Fighter for the Dreamcast. Horrible game, you don't wanna play it. And oh yeah, don't confuse Soul Fighter with Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur kicks ass.
Worst game in all of histroy -- Enter the Matrix! Buggy as hell, horrible, redundant gameplay, and I played all the way through it. Man, I am a sucker.
Black & White comes to mind. I know there are more crappy games I have played but right now that one sticks out in my mind.
Shaq Fu on the Genesis and ..... Daikatana on the PC
Never played Daikatana but I hear it's great ;) I hated Evil Twin on the PS2, X2: Wolverine's Revenge on the PC, Enter the Matrix (what the fuck were they thinking?!) and MGS2 because of the fact that Kojima lied to me about being able to play as Snake throughout the game... so many bad games out there, but when they're good, they're goooooooood.

I don't play bad games. :D.
Dynamite Headdy for Genesis
My friend and I rented it because of how stupid it looked. It exceeded our expectations in stupidity. |
ET
007: Agent under fire. Worst. Game. Ever.
Man people keep bringing up crappy games I forgot about. Oh man, Enter the Matrix. It was kinda cool when I played the demo at the store. Man did I fall for it. I ended up trading it in a few days later feeling dirty...
The worst game that I've played, hands down, was Quest for the N64. It was the first (afaik) RPG-style game for the platform released in North America, so I scooped it up. I think it was a rush job, because the controls were horrible. Not to mention, after a battle, you'd get turned around, and then lost your bearings. I spent 2 hours going around in circles in some cave before I gave up.
Sadly though, the game had a lot of potential. A lot of the graphics were well-designed, the music was good, and the storyline, if developed further, would have been great. |
I have a special place in my heart set a side for sloppy console-to-PC ports, for which developers forget that PCs don't have a special "X" "Y" "Start" or "Select" buttons, nor do they have "L" and "R" buttons either. In fact, I don't think my keyboard has a gamepad, period! Its like they are just tossing the PC users a bone to shut them up for a while, and not caring that its a poorly coded, buggy port, that is very inferior to its console counterpart.
Why do certain developers, whose names I shall not name *cough*Konami*cough*.. ahem, excuse me... why do they insist on going with insanely complicated control schemes playable only with a console gamepad with multiple knobs and at least 20 different buttons for each hand (ie: Metal Gear: Sons of Liberty/Substance)? I don't care if I can remap these keys - if the control scheme is so needlessly complicated, and using the mouse is not even option, the game quickly loses interest. And when developers don't even bother to RENAME the console buttons to their PC equivalent, while not giving any option to remap them, it is simply infuriating. "PRESS SELECT TO CONTINUE!" Where is "Select" again? |
Star Trek: Away Team
nice graphics but the rest... i tried to play it a while since i had the hope it would get better with later missions but it stayed horrible |
I dislike mentioning recent products on a "worst ever" sort of list, but "Enter the Matrix" does deserve some mention. So buggy, so boring, so crappy, ack. I lack the words...
Mineswepper. i HATE that game...its the most boring game on earth...like whats the point? then again thats only my opinin. Enter the matrix sucked pertty bad too...i bought it...played it for like 5 min...sold it for $5 more than i bought it for :)
The worst game that I have EVER played is definitely Enter the Matrix. It is the only game that has made me so completely frustrated and annoyed, that I uninstalled it before even trying to beat it. An awful waste of time and disk space.
Black & White bored the hell out of me - though some friends of mine liked it. The whole "sandbox" thing really doesn't do it for me...
I thought X-Com:Apocalypse was alright, it's "successor" in the series was X-Com: Interceptor. Ack! Oh, and I'll mention (again) Postal 2. I have a friend who loves that game, and frankly I think he missed the reality boat a long time ago.
It occured to me that another game I played fits the bill. There was a game (a "flight simulation", though it could barely be called that) called Birds of Prey released in 1994 which put 40 planes on one 1.44MB diskette. The terrible flight dynamics (which could be expected, given the size of the game) and the crippling "day 9" bug made it misery, since it came from an era where technical support was a stock form letter (still is really) and reviewers never played it long enough to partake of it's inevitable collapse. |
DOA: XBV
DOA: Volleyball was such a waste of 50 bucks for me. I haven't played it for any length of time after the first couple days i owned it. I probalby should have traded it in while it was worth something but didn't. Maybe I can get 5 dollars for it when Halo 2 comes out.
AO was bad, I dont know what its like now.

Battlecruiser 3000

I think it was called WitchHaven. It was a medieval type first person shooter that was so damn hard it was no fun. And it sucked a big one besides.
black and white because it is such a magnificent waste of a great idea. it becomes so utterly boring after the first 3 missions.
Wow, I gotta say, a lot of people seem to of never experienced truely a truely awful game, judging by a lot of the responses. My vote goes for Future Wars:Adventure in Time. It was one of the first pc games I ever bought, an adventure in the vein of KQ and the like. But wow, the plot sucked, the graphics sucked (even by the standard of the time) the sound sucked, and worst of all, the clickable 'hot spots' were only like 1 pixel wide...you'd see the key (if you were lucky) but you'd spend 30 minutes trying to find the right pixel to click on to pick it up.
any game where i have to memorize a whole keyboard of special commands
Trust me Pellaz, Soul Fighter was horrible. Has to be on of, if not the worst game ever created.
Shadows of the Empire. That game was poo on stick. I couldn't save during the game and some of the levels were just plain stupid. While I'm at it, Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith. What a waste of time.
I couldn't stand Trampoline Terror for Genesis! Gah! But all my foolish friends loved to play it hehe

I try to stay clear of bad games :)
However, there are a lot of games were my opinion differs from the general opinion. Here are a few.. Most overrated: EverQuest Most disappointing: Star Wars Galaxies |
Quote:
The worst game I have ever played is Dead to Rights. |
Daikatana was hideous, and Soul Fighter was also horrendous.
As for which is worse (and the worst), it's really like trying to compare an open cesspool with a rotting corpse; both are really, really bad, but is it even possible to call one worse than the other when both make you puke your guts out? Quote:
Ninja Gaiden for Snes, God. *shudders*
Mine is a rom hack called Ernie and the Muppets Take it All Off.
It's close to being the most disturbing thing I've ever seen as well. |
Unlimited saga was a piece of shit.
I could have sworn I've answered this question before on this board, but...
Goonies 2. |
You guys will think I'm crazy but I thought Starcraft sucked. I'm totally into RTS games but the A.I. in that game cheated so bad it wasn't even funny.

I would be hard pressed to say ANY Blizzard title sucked, especially StarCraft. This probably isn't the worst game ever, but Chrome really sucked. |
I would have to say Spelunker for NES. OMG!!! When I was younger I played it and could never get past the first level!!! Then, recently I tried it again thinking i might be better, but nooooooooo!!! I couldn't stand it. That stupid guy can't handle a fall of more than 1/4 his height......uggggg
star wars bounty hunter.
it was seriously little more than running aimlessly and repeatedly jamming the fire button over and over again. kinda pretty, sure, but the depth of gameplay barely rivals picking your nose. and that blaster noise... over and over and over again... shudder. |
I liked Bounty Hunter, tonnes of fun!
Enter the Matrix was a pile o' poop, the Max Payne mods are superior! |
ok, well hundreds of years ago i had some dodgy game called The Great Gianna Sisters which was the worst rip off of Mario i´ve seen. plus, it ran on the old Amiga.
I've found a new worst game: 'Bible Adventures' for the sega genesis. Not only does it have graphics that look like they were drawn by a retarded 5 year old with parkinsons disease, but there is only one piece of music, played with a lone triangle wave that is repeated over, and over and over and over again. The programming is abysmal, and when you collect a "power up" it quotes bible psalms at you. The only redeeming feature of this game is that you can throw babies in to rivers, if you are so inclined :P
diakatana is, by far, the worst.
Myth 3 was total shit, compared to 1 and 2. |
Panty Raider
Diakatana wasn't the worst game ever it just failed to make me "it's bitch" as advertised. |

There's two games I'd like to mention here that I have yet to see...
1) War Gods (Nintendo 64) - The absolute epitome of horrible launch games, and among the highest ranks of horrible games, period. 2) Awesome Possum (Sega Genesis) - In this epic classic (*rolls eyes*), you are a possum who is awesome because he collects cans and newspapers to recycle, all the while fighting enemies who choose to litter. |
I hate Super Monkey Ball. I rented it out of sheer boredom once, and took it back to Blockbuster after two hours. That must have been the shortest rental ever.

medal of honor the breakthrough expansion. that game was pretty good except that they made it really really short. and to try to hide it they made the end of it so hard that you cant do it without cheating. its like they know its too short so they dont want you to get to the end. the worst part about it is they charge full price for a expansion thats just a few maps.
superman (nes)
shaq fu shadowrun (snes) x-com apocalypse and friday the 13th was a damn good game. |
Quote:
well...worst ive played is diablo2 SP...dunno about MP |
Beyond the Beyond 1st RPG to be released on PS1
Postal 2
All the Alone In The Dark except for the first one (which was one of the BEST I've played). X-Com : Enforcer |
Heroes of might and magic: The quest for the dragonbone staff. It's horribly bad.
how can you guys say enter the matrix is a bad game? that game has set the standards in so many areas of gaming now. Using real movie footage in between scenes? tieing in with the rest of the matrix trilogy, i played it for PC and it wasnt buggy at all. not to mention all the rediculous fight moves you can acomplish?
please, give me some reasons why enter the matrix is a horrible game besides being "buggy" and "boring" cuz really its not... |
I've noticed that most of the games I hated were published by Acclaim or THQ.
Any Simpsons game. Pit Fighter... c'mon, remember that game? WWF WarZone... to do a fireman's carry all you have to do is hit left, down, left, right, up, r1, l1, select, x, o, start, reset, power, power, power, turn up the tint level of the television to red and press reset. Bad Street Brawler on the NES. ET on the Atari...duh. Super Pitfall on the NES. Anything with Bible in the title. Phantom Fighter. I've played so many crappy games, but I'd have to give the worst game of all time award to Hired Team for the PC... you can buy it for 2.99 wherever they haven't burned them all yet. |
Tail of the Sun for playstation. Your a cave man and you collect bones, wow, what a great concept.
I think I already posted, but I can't find it, so i will just say ET again, for the records, for Atari.

Starfleet Academy. Either that or MOO3. Both times, I pre-ordered. Never again.
SWG.
Should be self-explanatory. |
Unlimited saga by far
unlike its predecessors the Saga Frontier series it super sucked |
Battlefield 1942's first expansion pack, "Road to Rome" they added 2 maps and 3 guns and had the nerve to charge $30 for it!
Ill hafta add another vote for Shaq-Fu.
Maybe even a vote for the Echo : The Dolphin series. |
I konw these are supposed to be good games, but could never get into them and quit after a half an hour.
In somecases it's due to the game being to hard, or me not being ablt to stand the dated graphics Black and White Homeworld Fallout Divine Divinity Arcanium |
Mortal Kombat, I always thought that game was inferior to Street Fighter and Tekken.
Right now it has to be VIrtua Fighter 4 for PS2. I played it at a friend's house and it is the worst game I have played in a looooong time. It feels like you're playing underwater, the button mechanics aren't intuitive and just looks like crap. Boooooo
