The Ultimate Gamers Mouse?

http://www.tooheyworld.com/images/up...heel_photo.jpg Microsoft has come up a new idea for the humble computer mouse that I am actually excited about. The biggest difference in the new mouse style is primarily aimed towards gamers, which in my uneducated opinion, counts for quite a large chunk of computer users today. Interestingly though, Microsoft seem to be marketing it for business applications.

Quote:

The Tilt Wheel Technology adds another axis of scrolling to the ubiquitous mouse wheel, allowing users to move left and right by tilting the wheel with their finger, as well as up and down in the traditional manner. It won't be a four-way scroll wheel, but in many respects that's better for PC gamers.
I'm thinking that that would be so sweet playing MOHAA and Desert Combat online with that mouse. You could set the left and right tilt to lean your player left and right while straffeing around corners. Yeah! I'm getting excited now! I hope you don't mess this one up Bill.

The launch date for the new fangled mouse is September 3rd

Whaddya think?

what type of mouse are you using now?

I thought that actual picture was the mouse itself, and then I clicked the link.

Hadn't news leaked that Apple patented a mouse with a rotary wheel for similar functionality?

As for the original question, I think the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical is the best gaming mouse out there.

Also, I used a regular $15 Logitech Wheel Mouse for a couple of years and really loved it. Unfortunately, I had to replace them every soften, so I just decided to spend the 50 bucks and get the Intellimouse which would pretty much last me forever.

Isn't it funny we still haven't come up with a better way to get visual input into a computer? Except now it has a laser...

Still using the same ol' mouse.

I still prefer Intellimouse 3.0, be interesting to use it though, not only for leaning but weapon switch or zoom etc

I'm still using a ball-mouse with a scroll-wheel. I can't photoshop for shit or play games with an optical mouse. I'm so used to picking up the mouse a millimeter off the pad to move that it makes getting used to optical mice REALLY hard.

Oh well, it's still doing great. I like how smooth optical mice are, but when it comes to games (especially Battlefield 1942) and Photoshopping, I can't do it. Not until I spend some massive time with an optical mouse, which I don't plan on doing anytime soon.

I'm still suprised that I haven't seen a mouse with a trackball where the scroll wheel is. You could move the mouse like you normally do, but the wheel wouldn't be limited to the Y axis. Dunno the practical application of this, but it seems like the next normal evolution...

I use a Razor Boomslang 1000. It's pretty neat. The first few days seemed like it was killing things on its own. Snap shots seemed to be deadly 100% of the time.

I have a Dual Optical Logitech mouse.. Thats great for precision...

Lasereth: Perhaps you might need a mouse like mine, if I understood you correctly. yes you would still have to keep in DOWN, but that'll happen.

The one thing about my mouse is that it is heavier that a lot of mice, and because of it.. I can't stand a lighter mouse anymore. I NEED the weight :D
