FFX 2

is anyone else as giddy as i am about this game? im a hardcore FF fan and i have to say that making this game the first one to be a sequel was a good idea. there are just so many things that could happen at the end of FFX like where did tidus go and is sin really gone for good? and if he is how will the world change? i cant wait for december 3rd to get this game.

Isn't it already out in Japan? Plus does anybody know if it's still turn-based combat? 'Cause that's the reason I couldn't stomach the FF games, I mean they're rich and beautiful but the gameplay is horrendous (to me anyway, not trying to be an asshole).

FF will ALWAYS be turn-based.

I'm looking forward to FFX-2 as well - it should be quite different. I haven't played FFX yet (finally getting a PS2 though, so I'll soon be able to ), but from what I've read FFX-2 is going to be a bit of a different approach to the general feel.

The page I got this from isn't working, but here's the google cache of the article I read....

Quote:
E3 2003: Judging from the crowd around Square's booth, a throng of eager gamers waiting for a chance to play FFX-2, it's clear that those early misgivings about the Girls Gone Wild direction of the game have been replaced by delighted gasps of approval. And why not? FFX-2 is just as compelling as any other Final Fantasy, with a quick, slick, and raucous battle system. The story has all the melodrama you want, but with a nice dose of light-hearted humor. And the presentation is just fantastic. I've been trying to hammer this point home for months, but I'll say it again: This game is everything you want from a Final Fantasy, with a creamy slice of cheescake to boot. I can't wait.

Previous E3 impression by D. F. Smith, Gamers.com
E3 2003: Final Fantasy X-2 cheerfully flips the bird towards any kind of reverence for its fabled name and most dedicated followers. This is the best possible direction its creators could have taken. Where is it written, after all, that Final Fantasy should have to take itself so seriously? Why not cut loose and have a little fun with it? Or for that matter, a whole lot of fun -- guns, giant robots, outlandish costumes, bouncing pop music, lots of skin, and enough lesbian innuendo to send the FHM/Maxim set into their locked bedrooms for hours of getting to know themselves better. There will undoubtedly be resistance to the themes and style of this sequel, but I expect it will serve only to amuse the more open-minded.
There's a little comething to wet your lips - there's more to the article of course, so here's a link in case the page ever comes back up: http://www.gamers.com/game/1260108

Well ive played it. The Jap version that is. It's very fast pasted, the combat is active time battle. If you dont choose an attack, the monster will kill you. either way, i didnt play much for 2 reasons.
1. I cant read Japspeak so its hard to figure out what to do next.
2. I didnt want to spoil any of the game.

But ill tell you this, this game looks very nice, and from what i could tell its going to be very awesome. Looks like its going to have a great story line, with a twist of the new battle system (job classes, like tactics) My only warning is that this game was very japaneese, lots of singing and dancing, with popy music, it kinda silly, but you know how those japs like there pop! Anyways, i read somewhere that some of the jap stuff is going to be dulled down for us "big eyes". Im sure the singing will stay there tough, some stuff its just part of the story line.

I do think that some of the other games in the series would make more ineteresting sequels, I am psyched for this.

The line was too long at e3 to play it, but what I saw looked great. And I like the return of the job system.

The only FF I've ever played alot of is FF7 (although I've wanted to play more of the FF that had, what was it called, Blitzball? I played that FF for about 2 hours and liked it, but I don't remember anything about it other than one of the characters is a Blitzball player...can anyone help me out here?), and that's one of the only 3 RPG's I've ever played alot of and liked (FF7, Mario RPG, and Chrono Trigger...even though I still think CT is over-rated). I wish they'd make FFVII-2 before they made FFX-2, but it's all good. I look forward to it, given its hype and what my friends say about it. I'll probably rent it.

FFX is the one with Blitzball, so FFX-2 is the sequel to one you liked

I am looking forward to Final Fantasy X-2 in certain aspects. I am anxious to see how they continue it. On the other hand, they could have made sequels to other Final Fantasies too, I mean I liked Final Fantasy X as much as the next guy, but it wasn't the best Final Fantasy by far. Then again. . . I guess just leaving some of the games as they are with no sequel can be good, why screw up something that's already great eh? I dunno, I'm at a crossroads obviously.

I have some reservations about the whole pop-star/Charlies Angels thing they've got going. On the other hand, Square is good at creating compelling stories, and character you come to genuinely care about, so more of Yuna and Rikku will be much appreciated.

I hope the voice editing is improved for her voice in this one! The acting was good and her voice was fine, but it seemed like every word she said was spoken one at a time and pasted together in an audio line. Ok, fine, it only did this sometimes, but when it did it was BAD.

Doesn't change the fact that FFX was one hell of a game.

Yeah she did have some terrible voice acting in the first one. Since X2 is based mainly around her I'm sure they improved it though. cant wait, only a few more weeks!

Wtf, I want this game now! The counter on FFX for me has over 140 hours. Granted, I would just leave my ps2 on overnight, while I went to class (haha, whatever that was...), and such but I love ffx, I probably put around 100 hours of playing. That game is hot.

Exclusive review FFX-2

The article is about six pages so I don't think I'm going to try to post it here, but I gave a link so you can check it out. I love the idea of having new game plus and multiple endings. Finally, a reason to beat the game more then once.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this game. Trying to beat FFX as soon as possible so I can get started on FFX-2 (after it comes out of course).

I really do like the sphere grid of FFX and I hope they use it or something like it for a few more games - they just need to add something so you can see the total AP a character has. The way it is in FFX it's hard to tell if one character is far more leveled up than another. Too bad it's not in FFX-2.

As far as FFX-2, I'm looking forward to seeing the stylistic changes they made. Girly is fine to me - when girly means hot girly Sorta sucks though that I know that somehow Yuna and Tidus don't stay together in the end of FFX thanks to the reviews of FFX-2 Woulda liked to be able to be more than 3 characters too, but whatever. At least I won't have to worry about any characters falling behind in their levels

Oh yeah, and is it just me, or is Rikku WAAAAAAAY too hot in FFX-2 for a 15 year-old?????

EDIT: hahahaha I was just going through the media on ign and I saw O'aka That guy cracks me up showing up everywhere you go in FFX. Of course, I probably should have paid him more in the beginning of FFX
