Valve/Steam having a Sale

10-75% off all games. Good time to pick up some quality games you might have missed.

I am sure they are not in the same position as retailers, but I guess they figure if you didn't buy it for Christmas, only a price cut would entice you.

Also, this might be off-topic, but does anyone recommend a computer monitor that would be good for gaming, since now seems to be the time to buy electronics?

Good find! I picked up 6 titles that I've kinda wanted but didn't want to pay full price for.

I'm archaic. I still recommend CRT's for gaming. I just like their picture better. NEC's are a great value for the price.

yes i still hear a lot about gamers sticking to CRTs, they are bulky tho. I have a decent LCD now, Dell 20.1 WS, but its old and has low refresh rates. I saw LCDs have 2ms response and 120hz refresh now, so I thought people might start upgrading.

I thought about it (one of my monitors is starting to lose vsync from time to time) but the viewing angles are still crappy. . . And the price is quite high for the good ones. I'd rather spend 3-400 on a good CRT and spend what I saved on a new flight stick

Huh? The viewing angles are good. 170H/160V seems pretty great to me. LCD's have been perfectly fine for gaming for several years now.

if u haven't played Portal yet (:O), it's for sale at $5.
Or the Orange Box: "Includes: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, Peggle Extreme" for $27.

I love Valve, so I definitely recommend you get these if you haven't yet.

With as many free Source Mods there are, its like buying several games if you get either CounterStrike:Source or Half-Life 2.

Yea but.. um, you can't brag about being old school, if you brought your LCD to a LAN party, LOL. Actually, refresh rates are still low on most of them. Like I said though, they have 120hz at high resolution now, plus dual HDCP would totally be worth it.

LCDs look better than CRTs now. Play COD4 or Fallout 3 or anything else on a CRT and then compare it to an LCD sitting beside it and it is embarrassing.

Bioshock was $4.99 during the sale. What a steal.

just make sure you have a video card that can push the native resolution of your LCD in any game you plan on playing and the game will look just as good if not better than your CRT
