Has anyone ever been this excited over a present? Share some memories of when you got the game console you've been dreaming of.

djflish 03-29-2006 09:47 AM

I f that was my kid, I would be fearful of how they are gonna turn out!
I got most excited about Amiga than any console I've ever had. I have an emulator that I still play on now.

stevie667 03-29-2006 09:49 AM

Nobody tell him that you can't buy games for them anymore :D

I remember being that excited over lego, never really a console, but then i knew i was getting those

Carno 03-29-2006 10:38 AM

I don't think I've ever gotten that excited over anything in my entire life.

That kid was fuckin amped.

Giant Hamburger 03-29-2006 11:02 AM

He's going to be crushed when he finds out they just used the N64 box and he actually got a sweater.

feelgood 03-29-2006 11:16 AM

Damn, reminds of me when I was fucking stoned and was freakin happy that I found the last piece of jube jube sitting under my car seat

martinguerre 03-29-2006 11:17 AM

hey...i'm pretty attached to mine.

mariokart 64 is just classic.

Ace_O_Spades 03-29-2006 11:49 AM

what they don't show is the five minutes of whining before hand about only getting two presents... The N64 and the remote control car. If you listen, you can hear him say "now I understand!"... Greedy kid.

Or the months and months of whining and wheedling and begging leading up to Christmas.

Methinks he doth rejoice too much. You only go over the top like that when you've got something to prove. Notice how often he looks back to make sure his mom is watching his little performance? Like, Look, mommy and daddy! How happy I am mommy and daddy bought me the thing I've been begging and begging and begging them for. See, mommy and daddy? Happy! Happy happy! Yay for this wonderful thing I've begged and pestered and annoyed you for! See? It was really really worth it to buy it for me; for lo, how happy I now am!

Ick. This is why I'm not having children.

yep. I completely agree. I'll have children, but they'll be taught how to handle gifts a little bit differently.....

reminds me of my 5 year old sister last Christmas, she's a good kid. opened all of her presents and asked at the end, "where's the rest? is that all I get?" after opening probably $500 worth of barbie pink plastic shit she had begged for the entire year.

Carno 03-29-2006 01:38 PM

Just don't celebrate Christmas by giving gifts. That would settle that problem.

Or be poor so they don't expect any gifts anyway.

Invalid Comfort 03-30-2006 09:26 PM

I remember when I got my N64. It was a complete surprise to me, I got it on my birthday (3 days after christmas). The way that kid reacted reminded me how I felt when I got mine. Didn't react like that though. I don't know how to recieve gift properly, and I absolutely dislike christmas.

That has got to be an old video.

Imagine how one of us gamers would react to a random 360 dropping in our laps :D. I'd be like that kid.

Ace_O_Spades 03-31-2006 12:24 AM

I have a very sober acceptance of gifts most of the time which makes people think I don't like it. Trust me, I do... I just like to enjoy it by enjoying it... not by singing its praises from the rooftop.

Yes, the t-shirt you bought me kicks ass... I'll show you how much I like it by wearing it.

same here. I always look 'fake' if I get super excited about it or constantly praise.

ScottKuma 03-31-2006 07:43 AM

When I was a kid, I got a "Simon" handheld game. I played that thing until I was seeing red spots when I went to bed that night.

But I didn't make a fuss like that kid did.

itch vaccine 03-31-2006 07:52 AM

Hehe, saw this on i-am-bored.com too :)

That kid is crazy, and it was super nice of his parents to get him that.

Could tell he really wanted it.

fresnelly 03-31-2006 08:05 AM

I was bad for snooping and finding presents before Christmas. That tended to dampen reactions. The real exception, was when our parents had hidden the "big" present in the trunk of the car until after we'd opened everything. It was a PXL-9000 toy video camera. I don't think we combusted quite like that kid, but we were pretty blown away. That thing was the coolest.

Apokx 03-31-2006 11:25 AM

NINTENDO SIXTY-FOOOUUURRRRRRRRRRRR was hilarious.

I've been that excited about presents before, but it was a rarity.

I stopped asking for gifts a few years ago and just went for cash. It's easier for me, and easier for everyone else.

CyCo PL 04-04-2006 03:34 PM

I know ytmnd is lame but this is in context to the thread: http://whenimnintendosixtyfour.ytmnd.com/

I laughed :)

shadowalker 04-06-2006 06:16 PM

what they dont tell you was, that was just last X-mas.

Zeraph 04-06-2006 09:10 PM

Some of you are acting far too harsh. Theyre kids not mini adults. I'm sure we've all been that excited at one time or another, we just show it differently. I remember being so excited that I was getting a train set one christmas, when I was around 5 or 6, that I feared reality was a lie and that I would die before I could open it (I know I know, what an odd kid I was  )
