I'm going to go with the sentimental vote and say Star Wars, eventhough in retrospect is wasn't all that...

It is still a bloody masterpiece compared to that recent travesty, as long we are discussing the original theatrical version of Star Wars.
If the butchered recent re-release is being considered then it gets much harder to call.

I enjoyed the hogwash that was independance day. I was young and impressionable. Perhaps if I was older I would have said the same about star wars.

independence day was the largest dollup of american propaganda (until black hawk down came around)... i would never vote for it.

Its hard to beat the original Star Wars. :)

I predict star wars in the final round

"Star Wars" for my vote. In some points, it was definitely ahead of it's time.

Guess I'm in the minority...Independence Day ok..but still better than Star Wars..never a big Star Wars fan any ways..

Independence day was one of two movies I have ever left to go to the bathroom.
The other? Matrix Revolutions.

Star Wars. The villains were better. Villains are the ones that make a movie good.
