Karate: The lowest belt is white and the highest belt is black...in other words...anyone white is not violent but anyone black is.

Pool: Object of the game is clear all of the balls using the white ball...once the black ball is gone...the game is over. Coincident...I THINK NOT! HAHA


Oh, and if anyone knows some real history behind these colors then please share.

Whitey knocks down all the colored guys, then puts the black man down.

Reality: the cue ball is white for optimal visibility, and black is the other color that isn't used. The colors are used merely for identification of different numbers at a glance.

As for Karate, someone else can figure that out.

Once you are a black belt you have the skills to avoid violence... not become violent.

You can debunk the "theory" but the joke will live on. =P

Originally, all belts were white, and training was outdoors.
The longer you trained, the dirtier your belt became - until it finally appeared to be black.

Really.

In Okinawa some martial arts were practiced in secret, the belt had to be hidden or buried after training to prevent discovery by the authorities. They were rarely if ever washed and eventualy became black. The belt was also more of a loin cloth jigger like a sumo's thingy.

Or so the story goes, take it with a grain of salt.

Today they color code people so you know where to ask questions, and so you can know how authoratative the responses are.

how bout chess? or go? the board games can apply certain stereo type ~

i think this thread belongs in the paranoia section. The theories are totally groundless.

in go, the person of lower skill gets to be black.

of course, go was invented in 2000 bc, probably before the chinese had too many diplomatic relations with people in africa...
