Guess the ocker words

aight, time for a fun little game... Guess the Australian Slang =)

the rules:

1) Any aussies out there, don't give it away. Feel free, however to poke fun at our international counterparts and to message any suggested slang... =)

2) No cheating please. honor system here folks.

Three questions will be asked at a time, when they are solved, three more will be asked. =)

Right, here we go:

1) What is a Slippery Dip?.
2) What would you do with a Witchety Grub?
3) When or why would you call someone a drongo?

qpid 04-23-2003 05:32 PM

1) sex?
2) sex?
3) during sex?

KWSN 04-23-2003 05:43 PM

A slippery dip is when you have sex using Crisco as lube (it's big down south, I hear)

A witchety grub is a dick that looks like it's had very tight rubber-bands around it for a long period of time... it thins out in parts then folds back over itself, and has a deep shade of purple

You'd call someone a drongo if they tried to give you a slippery dip with a witchety grub.

Loki 04-23-2003 05:46 PM

qpid - no, no and nope :D
Bones - no, no and kinda, but why would you call them that?
KWSN - no, no and no =)

Loki 04-23-2003 08:08 PM

for the first part of the answer, full marks.

someone is called a drongo typically when they are acting stupid, or being an idiot.

for the second part... hmm :D

meanSpleen 04-23-2003 08:14 PM

Don't you EAT witchety grub?
It sounds like a larvae, or one
of those thing you eat off a stick.
So yeah, that is my answer. You
EAT witchety grub. Those african
people eat grubs all the time, so
why not austrailians?

and a slippery dip is when you slip on a banana and land in a puddle. :D

Loki 04-24-2003 03:25 AM

yup meanspleen, its a tasty snack when your starving in the middle of a desert =)

aight, one left before the next set: Slippery Dip.

heres a hint: most of you have seen and used them, probably when you were kids.

fizzledorf 04-24-2003 03:36 AM

i'll take a poke at it....

something obivous like a swimming slide then?

Miranda 04-24-2003 03:53 AM

LOL! I love it...Wow....How can you not know what a slippery dip is!??! When you find out - tell me what you guys call it! Actually I think I know...But I won't give it away, this is too fun!

fhqwhgads 04-24-2003 04:48 AM

A slippery dip is a regular slide, like on a playground, right?

Loki 04-24-2003 05:00 AM

fizzledorf: nope
fhqwhgads: Wow, i am honestly impressed that you knew what a slippery did was. Good job!

the three new ones:

4) If someone were to cop a root, what exactly would have happened to them?
5) If something is rooted, what exactly would have happened to it?
6)"Ya Rippa" <--- ???

Rastamax 04-24-2003 06:21 AM

Cop a root = have sex?

Rastamax 04-24-2003 06:33 AM

Ya Rippa = You're hot or you're beautiful?

vermin 04-24-2003 06:39 AM

4) borrowed a cigarette
5) it was buried and long thin tendrils spread out into the soil searching for water and nutrients :)
6) response to the question "Was it a good time?" in the affirmative.

fizzledorf 04-24-2003 09:30 AM

4) If someone were to cop a root, what exactly would have happened to them?
5) If something is rooted, what exactly would have happened to it?
6)"Ya Rippa" <--- ???

1. lost a leg
2. attached
3. like, "hey man!"

i, of course, have no idea -- pure guesses for all the Aussie's enjoyment...

Loki 04-24-2003 02:30 PM

Rastamax - Yup, to cop a root is to have sex =), Ya rippa, nope =)
vermin - no, no and no.
Bones - no, no and no
fizzledorf - no, no and no.

*hint* if something is rooted...
also vermin possibly got the closest to the true meaning with "ya rippa" =)

Pack 04-25-2003 02:12 AM

rooted--> something is really good.
Ya rippa--> Having fun?

Loki 04-25-2003 03:59 AM

pack: you couldnt get further away from what rooted meant if you tried :)

ya rippa - Its more like a statement then a question, and its generally taken as a compliment.

hope this helps =)

platypus 05-04-2003 05:16 PM

rooted = exhausted

bundy 05-04-2003 05:28 PM

ok...

top photo - Terry Hill will never cop a root.

centre photo - Robbie O'Davis's nose is totally ROOTED!

bottom photo - Andrew Johns, you bloody little rippa!

cchris 05-04-2003 06:04 PM

Fantastic thread.
Bones just cracks me up

Loki 05-05-2003 12:56 AM

nope platypus :)

platypus 05-05-2003 04:46 AM

OK, we know it can mean FUCKED in all its forms.

I got rooted. -> I got fucked.
He rooted her. -> He fucked her.
The car won't run, it's rooted. -> The car's fucked.
We shagged all night and I'm rooted. -> I'm fucked.
Get rooted! -> Get fucked!

But in regards to Robbie O'Davis's honker, I'd say it was Totally Destroyed.
