You loved them "then", but will you love them now? Based on the popular UK show of the same name, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" tracks down hitmakers from the past and they take the stage in a new competition in which you're the judge! Former Top Ten artists return to perform their trademark hit song along with one of today's current hits. The live audience decides which veteran hit maker deserves a second chance in the limelight
The first week competitors are
A flock of seagulls
Tiffany
Loverboy (although Scott is dead so I dont know who's taking his place)
Arrested Development

Arrested Development you can keep - - and Tiffany sounds way better now that she ever did during her shopping mall heyday... (must have been that posing in playboy that did it)

God help me, I will watch.. I love me some 80s music...

Loverboy used to be such fun... ah to be young again..

I hadn't planned on watching it, because I'd never heard of it. However, it sounds hilarious, so I'll toss it on the TiVo and see if it sticks. I probably won't recognize the current hits, however; that might be an issue.

What!!!!! Scott's dead?!?!?!? Why doesn't anybody tell me these things?????

Seriously, I didn't know that, and I was a big Loverboy fan back in the day. They were the second concert I ever went too.

Of that lineup, I pick Loverboy, but fear that Tiffany will win because of the whole teen pop thing. Well, that and the Playboy spread may help her. :D

Loverboy Member Presumed Dead

Last Thursday, November 30, 2000 Loverboy bassist Scott Smith was sailing with two friends about four miles off the cost of San Francisco's Ocean Beach, just south of the Golden Gate Bridge, when a eight meter wave swept him overboard. Friends of Smith report that the wave was so strong it broke the ships steering wheel before pulling him overboard. Friends hired a private search with a Weststar marine service which lasted only four hours. "We went out to the location, didn't see anything," said Weststar general manager Rich Smith. The Coast Guard also began searching immediately and continued for two days, but the bassist could not be found.

Scott Smith, 45, was moving his 37 foot sailboat, the Sea Major, from Vancouver to a marina in Southern California where he planned to stay for the winter, on break from touring with Loverboy. Girlfriend Yvonne Mayotte and friend William Ellis were below deck when the accident happened. They weren't hurt and called for help when they discovered Smith and the boat's steering wheel missing. The area they were sailing in is well known for having a shallow sea floor and gigantic wave heights. Smith was wearing track pants and two sweaters, but no life jacket when he was pulled into the 51° F waters. Experts say that a person can only live about 2 1/2 hours in such temperatures. Smith was an avid and experienced sailor, having owned similar craft to the Sea Major since the early 80s.

Loverboy, well known for 80s hits 'Working For The Weekend," "Turn Me Loose," "The Kid Is Hot Tonight," and "Hot Girls In Love," took a break in 1988 off to rest, but did not come back with an album until 1997s VI. From April to October of this year, Loverboy toured extensively giving a final charity performance Nov. 25 in Vancouver, where the band raised $62,550 for juvenile diabetes research. Scott Smith has been an active member of the band since 1980. A memorial service for Smith, have not been announced, but will be held soon in Vancouver, according to Loverboy manager Lou Blair.
