I liked Kilborn better, but it is much more popular now that Stewart took over.

He sort of has to do that, though. On one hand he's doing this show that's 90% opinion and editorial, and on the other hand he's blasting mainstream news for Hurting America. The only position he can take is that his show isn't intended to be news and doesn't have any real authority or power. It's pretty disingenuous, but it's the only option he has, and it frees him up to make his political point while avoiding the pitfall the other media outlets fall into.

There is no comparison. Stewart is better.

Anybody see tonight's show with Craig Ferguson?

I thought it was particularly funny when Stewart mentioned that they've both got experience in replacing Craig Kilborn. He then tried to cover it up with some lame joke about the pants not fitting right. I guess it didn't feel right to let the first joke hang there too long.

I never really cared for Kilborn. I thought the show was funny while he was the host, but it was more in spite of him than because of him.

Jon Stewart. I remeber when he first took over and started phasing out the 5 questions. It put me off a little, and I still miss it at times, but the overall show is much better now.

Just talk show hosts in general, I'd say Jon Stewart is 1a or 1b with Conan O'Brien right next to him. In fairness, I never saw more than a tiny bit of kilborn as the host, but even though he had shitty writers and no control at CBS, there's just no way he can match the level Jon Stewart is at right now.

It's kind of scary to say that the political and social voice of a large portion today's young people is coming from a comedian...but In Jon We Trust, heh. Really though, I agree and enjoy how eloquently he can articulate his views, but much more so, his comedy is just superb. His wit is razor sharp and his silly but sardonic style is one that I admire and get a lot of laughs from on a regular basis.

Same. Except that I would say it's in SPITE of Jon's obvious (and sometimes annoying) display of political leanings that I prefer him over Kilborn.
