Movies from the 80's

I grew up watching these movies. Now, we have to admit, some pretty psychotic stuff came out of the 80's. Unfortunately for me, my memories from those times long past (the days I spent watching movies in the 80's) have seriously faded and I can hardly remember watching these movies. Also, since my friends and I never know what the hell to do when we hang out (we're dirt poor, and we're not into drinking so anything related to alcohol is out the window), so I came up with the idea of renting movies that we grew up watching. I think this would be a really cool idea, but what I'm looking for specifically is... well I can't describe it other than psychotic, movies from the 80's. These movies aren't necessarily psychotic, though, maybe just a bit disturbing. I have this list so far:

Little Petshop of Horrors
Better Off Dead
Batteries Not Included
InnerSpace
Willow
Never Ending Story
Supergirl
Bill & ted's excellent adventure
Gremlins
Short Circuit
Willow
Krull
Whoops Apolcalypse
Labyrinth
Tron
The Dark Crystal
The Princess Bride
Flight of the Navigator
Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure
Alice in Wonderland

Can you think of anything else?

The Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Pretty In Pink
(John Hughes is my hero)

Maybe these are too girly though....

These are some good suggestions. And I suppose this thread would work better in Nonsense.

I suppose it would be even better in Entertainment, with the other movie threads

aaaanyways,

I've got 3 rec's -

Heathers (possibly too 'chicky')
Less Than Zero (woah bad imdb score .. i guess I'm weird for liking it)
River's Edge

And a Bonus (altho I didn't first see it until the '90s, it was relsd in '86)
Blue Velvet

(judging by your list, these may be a bit 'edgier' than you're used to)

If Blue Velvet is too edgy... probably shouldn't check out Eraserhead.. another one by David Lynch (which I think was (early) 80s too, despite being black and white)... If Blue Velvet is OK (haha), check it out.

The Lost Boys was another one I thought of.

Crickey,

No one has mentioned Risky Business.

I also think "Death Race 2000" was made in the 80's and I damn well know that "Spinal Tap" was.

John Huges is also a movie King in my house. So Molly Ringwald is the princess I suppose... I would have to say...

Say Anything (Kickboxing... oh Cusack; you so crazy)
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Bueller... Bueller... anybody?)
St Elmos Fire
Footloose (JUMP BACK!)
The Goonies
The Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Pretty In Pink (Oh Duckie "Blaine, Blaine... thats a major appliance, not a name")
The Princess Bride ("Luve, Twue Luve")
The Christmas Story ("You'll shoot your eye out!"

Theres more I'm sure but I'm having a hard time to think of them all. I think the Wedding Singer should be made an official 80's Movie.

Action in the eighties: A golden era in the action genre, a period of transformation and refinement, where the stylistic leanings of action moved away from the traditional taut suspense plotlines and hardedged badass archetypes of Bronson and Eastwood to embrace orgiastic violence, oiled biceps and heavy Regan era political overtones.

Personally I love the entire catalogue, it's a horrific, ignimonious perversion of artistic expression and the entire medium itself, yet I still love Commando and Rambo First Blood Part II...

And the list goes on...

Commando to be sure. Here's something that might interest you if you want 80's action: http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/80saction/80saction.html
The reviews can be funny too.

Ha, I just watched one on TV yesterday (I was bored and laying around). Summerschool from 1987. Not really crazy I guess, but totally 80's.

Oh, and by far the best bmx bike movie - RAD.
Best skater movie - Gleaming the Cube - Christian Slater was the star with a big cameo part for Tony Hawk.
