No women

Anyone notice any movies with no women in them or at least no speaking roles. I was watching Lawrence of Arabia and Hunt for Red October recently and realized they were sausage fests.

Pure action movies and war movies tend to be like that. The only role that women will typically play in an action or war movie (in the classic style) is as a romantic interest of the protagonist (discounting extras of course).

and if it weren't for Marla you could put Fight Club on that list too.

I think Master and Commander was womanless, not positive but fairly sure.

I believe you may be right about Master and Commander - no women that I can recall.

The Hunt for Red October and Master and Commander are naval movies. Both accurately depict the role of women in their respective navies at the time: little to none. I'm sure that if you looked you could find movies with no men in them as well.

I always like to refer to that role as the "token bimbo".

The Enemy Below and Crimson Tide, submarine movies... no chicks (CT had some at the beginning, not important)
If more movies would either not include women or make the female an intelligent character and not just a life support system for a pussy, movies would be much better.

Not if women are being depicted in roles they didn't have in history and the movie wants to be taken seriously. Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-women-in-movies, but if the movie is trying to be realistc then it should be realistic. PCness is being taken to the extreme sometimes.

I'm talking of movies in general. I don't care if it is historically accurate or not, I don't need to see women portrayed as fuck bunnies.

John Carpenter's The Thing not only had no women in the movie, on the DVD commentary he and Kurt Russell mention there was only one woman in the crew, and she was pregnant and left the set halfway through filming.

Reservoir Dogs had one woman, she shot Mr. Orange. Crimson Tide had Denzel Washington's wife as well as other wives/moms at the birthday party at the beginning. Hunt for Red October had a woman, Jack's wife really quick (played by the actress who also played Dr. Crusher in ST:TNG) at the beginning.

The Thing had absolutely no sign of a woman for thousands of miles.

I'm probably wrong, but i don't remember any women in Dr. Strangelove.

And are we just talking live action films? Cause technically there aren't any women in Shark Tale, The Lion King, Robin Hood, Dumbo, etc....

I can think of many, but they weren't exactly filmed in Hollywood. Close to it, but not quite...

Mr. Orange was shot by a woman whose car he tried to steal.

"Amercian Buffalo" starring Dennis Franz has no women in it.
