Best Episode Ever
I was amazed not to see this thread done before. Well, I did a search and didn't find anything..
Okay, so this morning while enjoying my blueberries and milk (while trying to get my cat not to drink out of the bowl) I happened upon Saved by the Bell on TBS. And it was the Best Episode Ever! You know the one... When Jessie starts taking pills so she can stay up and study and pratice singing or something. And Zack finds out, and she says "I just need more pills!" Starts freaking out. Zack is all "You can't sing tonight." And Jessie says "Yes I can! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so.... scared..." I think it might actually be the best episode of any show on television ever. Okay, maybe I'm stretching... So what are your Best Episodes Ever? This can be totally subjective, of course. |
I'm confused. Are you asking for our favorite "Saved by the Bell" episode...or just the best episode of anything that strikes our particular fancy?
|
Best of anything, sorry!
Best Saved By the Bell Episode would get pretty boring pretty quickly ;) So post away on your Best Buffy episode ;) |
Every episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus are the best ever :D
|
The best episode of Weebl and Bob is definitely "bobs week in france pt. 2" :D
|
Best episode of Seinfeld - The Strike
"It's another Festivus miracle!!!" |
Best Seinfeld episode
The one where George pretends to be a Marine Biologist is forced to save the whale that has a golf ball (Krammers) stuck in it's blowhole! |
oh and the X-files! The best episode ever was Tooms! Damn that one was scary :(
|
Best episode of Futurama - When time started skipping and Fry got married to Leela, temporarily.
Best episode of South Park - When Cartman made Scott Tenerman eat his parents. Best episode of Family Guy - New Year 2000, when the world ended |
Simpsons - The one where Bart wins the elephant from the Radio. He named him Stampy. I won my foosball table Stampy when I won it. The contest had all kinds of TVs and other electronic devices and I took the table. The fellow who put the contest together was so surprised that someone actually chose the table that he did not know where he was going to get one. Hence Stampy. Oh yeah - I about shit myself when Stampy pulls Barney out of the Tarpit.
|
Man, that episode of weebl and bob was funny as hell... and I don't know exactly why! Hmmmm.
Very odd stuff. |
Best Simpson Episode- The Treehouse of Terror with "The Shinning" in it.
Best Buffy Episode- "Hush" which contains no dialogue for about 40 minutes. It sounds stupid when I explain it, but it's very well done. Plus, it has the best exposition scene of any Buffy ep and the scariest villians. The Gentleman give me major willies. Best Sopranos Episode- "The Pine Barrens" where Chris and Paulie get stuck in the wilds of Jersey on a winter's evening, searching for a Russian they were suppose to kill. Nothing's funnier that Paulie Walnuts wrapped in van carpeting and eating ketchup packets. |
Best Northern Exposure Episode: When Steve's friend dies and he uses the Trebuchet to "fling" him into the lake.
Best Star Trek: TNG Episode: the final, All Good Things... |
The best episode of The Wonder Years, was when Winnie had gotten into a car accident with that older kid and Kevin wanted to see her so bad. At the end he finally climbs up the lattice to her window and sees her there and the music starts playing ( I don't remember if it was "When a Man Loves a Woman" or "We've got tonight") and then Kevin whispers to her through her window "I Love You!" and Winnie whispers it back.
Damn, that was the greatest episode! |
Best Family guy episode: When Peter and his wife decide to date others. The part where she finally decides to go out with Quagmire and he gets a coat for her and puts the sleeve in his fly but she doesn't want to wear the coat.
Freaking hilarious! |
Star Trek: TNG: The one with the Enterprise C, where they time shift.
South Park: Scott Tenerman revenge is way up there Family Guy: The Christmas one with "Kiss Saves Santa" Sealab: Happy Cake ATHF: I like Wisdom Cube, but the first Mooninites will go down as the best. Law and Order: They're all the same, every iteration included. Great show, but don't try and tell them apart. |
Northern Exposure: the first-season episode in which Chris finds out he has a black half-brother (Bernard). Neither of them realize they're related to one another until they share a dream in which both of them get a ride in a semi driven by Carl Jung.
Simpsons -- the episode in which Homer has strange visions after eating chile con carne made with hallucinogenic chile peppers. Angel -- "Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been?" A flashback to the '50s and the McCarthy era, and kind of an allegory for that whole era. Brilliant. Dead Zone -- Episode in which Johnny tries to have sex for the first time since waking up with psychic powers. He can't get it up because old lovers and friends keep walking into the room (in his visions) and talking to him. Even his mom! Painfully funny. The Chronicle -- short-lived series on Sci-Fi about a lurid tabloid in which all the stories are true; best episode is a trip to a convention of vampire Elvis impersonators, in which the King himself shows up to dust them all. Strangers with Candy -- the final episode, when the teachers torch the high school. |
There was an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air when Will's father comes back, only to abandon him again. That was incredibly moving near the end, definately one of my favourite episodes ever.
Also, every new episode of 24 makes me say BEST EPISODE EVAARHARRRH |
Best Simpsons - "Girlie Edition" Bart and Lisa head up that kid's news show. Homer gets Mojo the Helper Monkey.
Hi-friggin-larious. |
Simpsons - Homer as a Missionary, when Homer made the bogus donation to PBS, was chased by PBS kid-show characters, then cried for sanctuary: "Save me, Jeebus!"
Holy jeebus, that was funny. |
Last night's "The Apprentice"
|
West Wing -- Two Cathedrals. Mrs. Landingham's funeral and the President announcing he has MS and deciding at the last minute that he's going to run for a second term anyway, the moment when "Brothers in Arms" comes in and all the staff lining up together behind the President to stand with him no matter what.
Friends -- The One with the Embryos. Ross makes up the trivia game. Brilliantly written and the comedic acting is some the best that cast ever did. ST:NG -- Scipio, Yesterday's Enterprise is pretty great, but I like Clues (where they lose a day and try to figure out why), Genesis (when everyone on the ship mutates into crazy animal hybrids) and the one where Worf is coming back from the tournament and is shifting through alternate realities. Also, I guess Cause and Effect, when the ship is trapped in the loop. I suppose I just like the mystery episodes. Sopranos -- Like Troublebot said, Pine Barrens, third season, when Paulie and Christopher are trapped in the woods. I didn't even see that reccomendation until I'd picked my favorite; it really is a great ep. |
The Simpsons- the one with Sideshow Bob and his brother Cecil. It's like Fraiser on the Simpsons- great episode.
|
Two Cathedrals- That was the best West Wing episode, man I wish Sorkin was still writting that show.
|
The Simpsons - When Homer is the stuntman who takes cannon balls to the stomach.
|
saved by the bell - when jessie becomes an exotic dancer in vegas and does that lap dance with kyle mclaughlin ... oh, wait - right actress, wrong part...
|

TNG- All good things. Far and above the best episode. It was the last, and simply amazing. Q being in it was just perfect.
|
the simpsons - when the dolphins take back the land! hahaha
|
The best episode on television ever was the episode of "Facts of Life" where the girls learned an important lesson on friendship.
|

Simpsons - Bart gets a big brother sponsor, so Homer sponsors his own little brother - Pepe.

That one was good, but do you really think it equalled the depth and emotion captured by those prep school girls? |
Best episode of the OC, the first episode when Ryan sticks up for Seth. Good guy. I'm a seth at heart.
|
wow, a real difference of opinion on best "simpsons" episode. i'll just say "cape feare" will never be equaled. i also agree with derwood, this weeks "apprentice" killed!
|
The Simpsons: Monorail episode :)
|
The best episode of Mission Impossible was after they started doing the international crime stories when they tricked a the head of drug counterfeiting ring that he had a fatal sickness that could only be cured using some thing he'd counterfeited to trick him into confessing.
Mission Impossible rocked. |

Except maybe the episode in Taxi where Christopher Lloyd takes the driving test and he asks the question, "What does a yellow light mean." ... "Slow down." "Wwwhhhhaaaatttt dooooeeessss aaaa yeeellloooowwww lliiiiigggghhtttt meeeaaaaannnn." ... "Slow Down." You get the idea. Best Seinfeld (or at least most absurd), The Episode with the Voice. "Heeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooo." |

Tony (on cell phone): The russian was part of the ministry of the interior! Paulie: What? Apparently that guy we whacked was... an interior decorator. Chris: Really? His apartment looked like shit. That one, or the like...5th episode of the first season, where Meadow sings in the choir, that one was really good, too Scrubs: "My Screw-Up" where Brendan Fraser dies...so beautifully written and performed. |

As soon as I saw Averett mention Saved by the Bell, I immediately thought of the episode where Jessie starts taking pills.
In fact, I love 'Very Special Episodes' of any sitcom. Like the episode of Family Ties where Alex starts taking pills so that he can stay up to study to get into Harvard. |
Yeah, all "Very Special Episodes" are awesome.
I remember one Growing Pains where Carol's boyfriend Sandy (played by Matthew Perry) got drunk and smashed up his car and died. It was really quite sad. Tracy Gold (who recently got arrested for drunk driving herself) did a really great job with her scenes in that episode. |

No it was the episode of Three's Company where there was a misunderstanding... THAT was the best episode ever...
|
Did no one else watch television before 1990?

You could always lead by example and pick an older show :) How's this: Best Episode of I Love Lucy - The one where Lucy and Ethel work at the chocolate factory. Comedy gold. Best Episode of The Honeymooners - The one where Ralph finds a suitcase full of money on his bus (belonging to a crook) and he spends it all. Hilarity ensues. |
The "Masturbation bet" from Seinfeld

I'll have more favorite West Wing episodes once I get my seaason 3 DVD... :) |

The final episode of Newhart, when he woke up in bed wiht Susan Pleashette and basially the entire Newhard show was all a dream... (brilliant series finale) |
mmmkay, let's see...
Buffy -- First I was going to say Restless. Then I decided on Once More With Feeling. Then Becoming. Then Hush...okay, damn it, I love them all. Except Bad Eggs. :p Angel -- Let's see...I'll go with "Tomorrow" (season 3 finale)...the last scene is absolutely beautiful. Animaniacs -- the foreign language episode! "D'accord, je t'aime, au revoir, au revoir!" Quantum Leap - Trilogy. Yep, all three parts. |
series:Cowboy Bebop
episode: Pierot Le Fou just an awsome thing to watch. |
My vote for best episode ever may go to The episode "Jeff" on the show The Westerner that was directed/written by Sam Peckinpah(The Wild Bunch).
All the Twilight Zone's are classics too |
buffy- storyteller cracked me up.
angel- i will remember you made me weep like a bitch. |
RahXephon: Ticket to Nowhere. Beautiful and tragic.

Buffy - "Hush" is up there... that or "Once More With Feeling". Hush probably takes it though. Anyone know where I can get the Once More with Feeling soundtrack?
Nip/Tuck - Can anyone REALLY choose a favorite??? The Shield - Same thing... FX original shows are so good... |

I did ;-) http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showpos...4&postcount=38 For I Love Lucy, I always liked the one where Lucy gets the freezer/meat plan. Watching her try to hawk all the excess meat (and you could just tell that they'd end up with way too much) in the butcher shop was so funny. Frozen Lucy ;-) Did you ever see the Three Stooges Episode, Three Little Pigskins? She was such a hottie then! |

Family Guy: When Peter Griffin has a flashback of him killing Hanson with a shotgun. :)
Becker: When he unknowingly hires that sex-addict as his nurse, and finds her gettin' it on with one of his patients. The Simpsons: When Homer becomes the mascot for the local baseball team. Lisa's encounter with Bleeding Gums Murphy is a close second. Chappelle's Show Season 1 Episode 6: When that White Guy gets stuck in a Real World Episode with his roommies all being black. I Love Lucy: Vitameatavegamin. Amazingly funny. |
/me resurrects a dead thread

Best Buffy... I'm torn between the previously mentioned Once More with Feeling, and Hush, as well as The Body, and Passions. Gah! Dont make me chose!!! I love them all!
|
Best Simpsons: 1st season, the camping episode. The rabbit trap is by far the best visual gag on the show ever. I can't really explain why, but I just burst into hysterics whenever I see it.
Best Astroboy: For some reason, I always think of the episode where they're on the train ride in the storm and the dam breaks and astroboy's leg jets break, so you actually see him use his arm jets (doesn't happen very often). Or maybe the episode where his sister takes the pill that splits her in two so she can go to school while still doing her pro wrestling thing, except when she's split in two, she's only 1/2 as strong, so Astro has to come save her. (it's wierd, some of my oldest memories are Astroboy episodes) Best Seinfeld: Agreed, George the Marine Biologist, brilliant! |
Simpsons: When Homer discovers himself on a box of Japanese detergent and then goes to Japan with the family.
South Park: Scott Tenermann. Best. SP. Episode. Ever. Cartman: Your tears taste soooo wonderful! Family Guy: Extremely tough, but Live and Die in Dixie is up there, its when the family is relocatted to the deep South as a part of the witness protection agency. Law and Order: Criminal Intent - Tough to pick a single episode, but the show in general is awesome. |
Sealab 2021: Bizarro
most bizarrely wonderful 10 twelve minutes of cartoon I've ever seen. |
I'm going to have to third or fourth the West Wing - Two Cathedrals episode as the best ever. I actually downloaded that episode just to watch on occasion. It has in my opinion one of the best scenes ever as well when the President locks himself in the cathedral and goes on the tirade questioning god. Reguardless of your religious affiliation, it is a beautifully written, acted, and shot scene. Especially if you were at least a semi-fan of the show and had some emotional investment in the characters.
This reminded me of another West Wing episode earlier that season that in my opinion is almost as good. I think it was called 17 People, something similar to that at least. It was the one where Toby discovered Jed's secret, and all the interactions in that episode are very well written and acted as well. The tensions just under the surface are great, along with Toby bouncing the ball off his walls as he pieces it together. Also up for grabs, there was an episode of the X-Files called Bad Blood I think. It showed the story from both Mulder and Skully's perspectives and is hilarious how it plays off of the inside jokes from the series. |
The Best is the Seinfeld episode The Burning.
This is the episode where Kenny Rogers moves next door to Kramer, so Jerry and Kramer trade apartments. Jerry gets freaked out in Kramer's apartment because of "Mr Marbles" Classic stuff! |
All you guys are very young. There was a show in the '70's called 'Rhoda". It was a spin off of the the Mary Tyler Moore show. The one episode where she got married carried one of the highest ratings for years and years. That was one of the best.
Other than that, all of Deadwood and the Soprano's. |
Simpsons: The Monorail, and/or 22 Short Films About Springfield.
Scrubs: JD breaks up with Danni, who moves in with the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. "Hospitals don't sell cigarettes!" Family Guy: The Thin White Line Six Feet Under: The Pilot Firefly: Bushwhacked Seinfeld: George the Marine Biologist |
|
Stark Trek TNG: Best of Both Worlds. Seeing that lone tear run down Patrick Steward's face, very moving.
X-Files: Bad Blood. At the start of the episode, Mulder kills a teenage vampire. Only the "vampire" had false vampire teeth. Uh oh. The episode continues with two accounts of the events leading up to the death of the vampire, one from Mulder's point of view, one from Skully's. This is the funniest episode of XFiles, and perhaps any other scifi show, I have ever seen. |
It's been mentioned several times before and needs to be mentioned again:
The West Wing season 2 finale, "Two Cathedrals" is the most stunningly powerful thing ever shown on television. Every time I watch it I get shivers running up and down my spine. I want to be a writer and it's things like "Two Cathedrals" that make me strive to better myself. |
Simpsons: Homer in space. there were so many good jokes in this one. The "inanimate carbon rod" kills me every time. "In Rod We Trust"
Family Guy: When peter becomes feminine and trys to breast feed Stewie. Kids in the Hall: favourite sketch is "The dog for whom i feel nothing"( im not sure the episode) |
Best Northern Exposure:
The one where Ruth Ann borrows Chris's Harley and rides with the motorcycle gang for a night. Best Twilight Zone: The one where the woman's face is bandaged and everyone is feeling sorry for her when at the end we see that everyone else looks like pigs and she is normal. Best Twin Peaks: The one where we first hear "the owls are not what they seem". |
Family Guy - Lethal Weapons, where Lois learns martial arts.
|

XFile... the one with the house full of cockroaches... I loved the more comical episodes
Buffy... there are so many that have been mentioned, all enjoyable but The Body, always makes me blubber. |
People have already got my favorate Seinfeld (Geroge the Marine Biologist), Friends (The one with the Embryos, except for the parts about the embryos), and my favorate Simpsons episode (Although I probably couldn't actually pick one)
X-Files: The C.O.P.S. episode, that ruled. Red Dwarf: Gunmen of the Apocalypse Loony Toons: Daffy as Robin Hood. Trigun: Hard Puncher Cowboy Beebop: Mushroom Samba (Okay, so it's not moody or emotional or anything, but it's freaking hilarious) |
Quote:
Best Episode of Dukes of Hazzard: The one where some crazy folks from outside of the county try to commit some crime. Somehow Boss Hogg is involved and can be implicated as an accomplice. Bo and Luke each kiss Daisy at least once. Rosco and Cletus bumble and foil Boss Hoggs plan and at the same time still can't catch Bo and Luke, although attempts are made, exactly twice, in two long, drawn out car chases. Bo and Luke get caught once, end up in jail, but somehow (perhaps by using Daisy's ass as a distraction) get out of jail, foil the robbers, and implicate Boss Hogg, so they don't have to go back to jail. Friends: The butt slapping episode. Kids In The Hall: "Maybe it's because I have a CABBAGE for a head!!!" |
