Dummy

I just saw a screening of Dummy.

An aspiring singer in a dysfunctional household finds her niche in Yiddish music, while her friend tries to make it as a ventriloquist, saddled with a dummy who embodies his inner doubts.

Milla Jovovich, Illeana Douglas, and Adrian Brody...

Milla's punk klezmer band alone is worth price of admission. It made the rounds of the film festivals, and will have a limited opening on Sept 12. I met the producer, he's a nice man.

I have a few of Milla's songs and I was quite surprised by how good they were.

I saw this last night and I thought it was really good, however I thought the focus of the movie was squarely on Adrian Brodie's storyline. Milla's role was probably the worst I've ever seen, but it was amusing because it was so amazingly bad.

Great lil' love/coming of age/hooray for geeks story

I saw Dummy a couple days ago, and I also enjoyed it. I agree with hal, that the movie mainly focused on Adrian Brody's character (which was great). I recommend the movie..

I started watching this movie and thought it was pretty good, although it was rather uncomfortable at times. And I thought Brody's character was really weird, in the way that you wanted to smack him for some of the stuff he was doing. I never got to finish it though because the cops busted somebody in our front yard with a mobile meth lab, so I spent the rest of the night watching that and never got to finish the movie.
