How much do you pay for a movie ticket?
Where we live (deep South, USA), the evening shows are $6.50 and the matinees are $4.50.
|
Baastard!
here in hicksville, IN we pay $8.00 for eveining shows, the last showing of the night is usually $6.00. When visiting a (now ex) girlfriend in NYC a few years ago Tickets for matinee were $10.00, kids were $8.00, eveing shows were $12.50. I imagine they have gone up since then. :( |
i have paid anywhere from $.50 - $14.00 for a movie ticket depending on where i am
|
I recently paid £3.10 (about $4.90 according to XE.com) to see X-men 2 on the first day of release, in the evening
Thats with an NUS card. Adult price, i think, is £4.50 ($6.15) And thats gone up in the last year, used to be £2.50(ish) for students and £4.00 for adults This is at a fairly new cinema in North-East England. A cinema run by the same company in Manchester was £3.50 for student, £5.00 for adults last year. I imagine that in London its even more. |
In Manahattan it's US$10.00... no matinee screenings. Always full price.
In Hicksville, Long Island (Yes that's a real place.. Ganguro.. you makin' fun of where I live?) it's also US$10.00 but there are matinees for the first 2 shows at US$6.00. There used to be the US$3.00 theater in Manhattan.. played all second screening movies... that was cool. I don't think that they are around anymore. ticket prices have nearly doubled in the past 12 years. |
£5.50 for an adult ticket, which is around $8.
|
anywhere from $6 to $9 depending on the theater
about $2 dollars cheaper when i remember to bring my student id (which is no longer valid, but still useful) i just paid 6.50 on sunday to see x2 on the imax with my student id |
well i'm kinda lucky... they let the cripple folk and a guest in for free. :D
|
freakin 8 bucks at home but 5 bucks at school
|
going rate at the moment in Australia is about $AU13-14 for an adult ticket (about 8.50 bucks or so USD, I guess).
Of course, if you have relatives that run a cinema, they're free...... hehe. |
50 cents if im being cheap, 7.50 for an evening show, 5 for a matinee
|
$7.50 , $5.50 mat.
|
$9.50 night time ticket, but i get student discount to $7.50!
|
for a student in Australia its usually A$10.50. thats US$6.62.
but if you go to my uni, and go to the local cinemas, its only A$9, thats US$5.72 |
Ticket price used to be 3.50-matinee 5.00-night when I started payin 6 years ago. Now it's 5.50-matinee and 8.00-night. It's a significant increase. But I thinkit's better than what people is being charged elsewhere.
|
$6.50 to $6.75 depending on where I go.
|
I'm also here in the deepsouth and prices were 6.50 that is until last Friday when XMen 2 was released they went up to 7.00. Luckily they are about to implement a student discount for 5.00. Thanks to the few more years I just added on to finish out the masters I dont have to worry for a while.
|
euro6 before 6pm and euro8 after 6pm
|
$5.50 with student discount
|
Here in Michigan at my local Star Threatre we pay $8.50 for a nightly movie. Counting popcorn and refreshments it is not uncommon for me to spend 30 bucks just to take a date out to the movies. Crazy it really is..
|
Where I live Matinee is 5.50. A huge rip off.
|
$7.50 for the evening show.
We have a $1 theater but I have never been there. |
$2.00 at the theater on campus
$5.00 everywhere else with my student ID ($7.00 normally) |
Where I live in Eastern Ky its $2 a matinee and $4 at night. The theater is kinda ghetto though.
Here in Louisville its 5.50 for a matinee, 7.50 in the evening. |
Too much.
Movies in theatres are now reserved for movies that I really want to see, and can't wait for them to come out on DVD. |
Quote:
The $3.00 theatre is no longer around, but i think that it has been replaced by a $5 second run theatre inside of the virgin in times square. |
$7 is student discount at the threater down the street, but there is another one around here where they dont give student discounts and the regular price is $9
|
Looks like $7.50 is the magic number in AR.
|
$6.50 Mat, $9.00, or free if the right people are working the front when I go...
|
I think it is $2.50 at the dollar theater (makes sense doesnt it?) with the not-so-new releases and $8.50 at the main theater with the new releases
|
$7 regular price
$5 mat. $4 kids and seniors $5 with military ID |
Too much...that's why I don't usually go to the theaters. Wait until I can rent it.
|
I can't wait to pay $6.50 for Matrix:Reloaded!!!
|
$6 normal
$4 matinee |
In Kansas City it's $7.00 prime time, $4 matinee
and 2 minutes in a video booth is still a $0.25... and I should be getting change dammit |
On the other side of Missouri in St. Louis, its $9.00 for evening shows, $6.00 for the matinee.
I keep telling the ticket clerk that I don't want to buy the film, I just want to view it. |
$8.75, no idea what matinee the price is, never gone to one.
What the hell is this student discount thing? Why don't I get one? |
I really don't know what the going rate for movies at a first-run theater is in our town these days. The last time I went to one of those theaters I paid $4 to see a matinee, but that's all I know about those. Mainly I go to the discount theater. $1 before 6:00 or all day on Tuesday!! Can't beat that.
|
6.50 Student/matinee
8-9 other We finally got another movie company in town, so prices won't rise as fast as they have been. Hopefully. |
At the new theater a couple of blocks from my house the price is:
Matinee is 6.00 Regular price 8.00 Senior is 6.00 At the "Dollar" theater: All shows 2.00 but bring in a coupon and get a free bag of popcorn! |
Here in Perth, we pay anything from $3 to $15. Cheap cinemas show movies that are about a month old for around the $3 to $7 mark. The mainstream cinemas (Hoyts, Greater Union, Reading) charge around $8-10 for a child, and $8 - 15 for an adult. It seems our movies work out to be cheaper than seeing them in the US.
|
TOO DAMN MUCH!!!
.. unless it's a movie I just have to see at a decent theater I try and save 5 bucks and go to the dollar theater whenever the movie makes it there. Unfortunatly that could be anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months and once you've seen the two movies they offer for the month you're out of luck! |
$9.50 evening and $6.50 matinee
|
we almsot never go to the theatres that don't give the student discount... so i'm used to paying between 5 and 6 bucks for first-run movies. we also have these souvenier cups produced by the local chain here... buy it for 3.50 and get dollar refills all year. it works out alright.
|
TOOO FUCKING MUCH!!
|
Prices here were just dropped .50 to 5.50 and 8.50. According to the newspaper they did a survey of other theatres in the immediate area (Peoria, Iowa City, Rockford) and they lowered prices to be more in line with prices in those cities.
|
$6.50 with a Student ID. $8.50 regular price.
|
Matinee Student: $5.50, regular student $6.50.
I used to bitch about how I remembered movies for $3.00, but then my mother told me about movies for $0.10. Ah well. Our children will look fondly back at these days as they are paying $20 for Fast and Furious 10. |
Here in NZ you pay about NZ$14, which is US$8.09. In Switzerland you pay CHF16.00, which is US$12.22. Quite expensive in CH! (but so is everything else!)
|
29 rand which is just under $4
|
a place near me is only 5 bucks now. they're indepent. Fuckin Regal took over and it all went to hell. all the Regal places are upwards of $8
|
£4.50 adult at my local (UK, London) Odeon, which is reduced to £3.50 all day Tuesdays...
As you may have guessed, my cinema trips revolve aroud a certain second day of the week... Perfect for a bum like me. :p |
I just thought I'd update this thread. It's now $8 apiece for full-price tickets at our local Carmike.
|
7.50$canadian at the Silvercity(Famous player)
6.50$canadian at the rainbow cinema downtown which has movies 1 or 2 weeks later. it used to be 10$ at silvercity and 4.50$ at rainbowcinema which really made a big deal but now it's almost not worth going downtown. |
$11.00 at the Century City AMC in Los Angeles.
|
I pay $4.00 since the average ticket attendant is about 12 years old and views me as a senior citizen (Still more than a decade to go for that one to happen).
|
Its about $11 pretty much everywhere I go. New York, LA, SF...
|
$7 for the independent theater here, pretty much the only place I go unless there's a captioned show at the main theater, $8.50 there.
|
$4.50 matinee, $8.50 evening OR $1.00 at the discount theater.
|
war, I hate Carmike with a passion.
We pay 5.25 for a matinee, and that seems to be the standard price regardless of what chain we go to. I don't even know the prices for evening shows because I refuse to pay more than matinee prices. Every once in awhile hubby and I will go to the dollar theater (which is actually 1.50). |
we pay R14.00 here in south africa at the one cinema(ster Kinekor) and R28.00 at the other(Stars) but at ster on a tuesday, if you're a club member, you pay half price.
which is by far the most expensive of all...this sucks soooo bad:( |
$8.00 at the drafthouse, 9.00 at a megaplex.
dollar cheaper and I can have dinner and a beer. No more megaplexes for me. |
